About this deal

I consumed this book like fast food, though my tastebuds still tingle with the delectable flavours each character added to the fair. It created a veritable feast for my soul and imagination as I slipped into this world of snow and ice created by Jennifer Kropf, drawn irresistibly down the snow-covered streets of Waterloo. She paints her uncharted world so magnificently that you are left yearning for more as your heart races along with this swift-footed, iridescent adventure of sweetness and high stakes. The only upside in the whole mad seeming scheme? A handsome mysterious boy who's been following her around with a warning on his tongue, determined to protect her - Zane.

Never in my sixteen years of life had I believed in things unseen until that day. I had never created an imaginary friend as a child or believed in ghosts or the work of angels. But on that cold December afternoon, everything I knew went up in a gray cloud of smoke.A Soul as Cold as Frost instantly transports you into a magical world that the whole family will adore. Fans of Chronicles of Narnia will be thrilled with this new wintery adventure!" (Nikki Mitchell, author of Nightshade Forest ) Helen is an ordinary sixteen-year-old that happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. A Rime, citizen of the kingdom of Winter, stumbles into her and gives her an Orb of Truth. Now a Carrier of an Orb of Truth, Helen is hunted by the evil Queen of Winter (think the Witch from Chronicles of Narnia). The Chronicles of Narnia meets Harry Potter. This fantastic winter tale is the perfect blend of classic portal fantasy and the magical world co-existing with our own. This magical Christian fantasy adventure totally hits the spot and got everything right. It is a beautiful reminder of what is truly important in life." ( USA Today best-selling author Astrid V. J.)

I had to drop it. I would drop the glass ball on the sidewalk and leave. And I would never, ever think about this moment again; the moment I realized I was losing my mind. Chapter, The Second I was drawn into Helen's world on the snow-covered streets of downtown Waterloo and held on tight for the entirety of the young Trite's whirlwind adventure. I didn't want to put this book down, but even when it had reached two in the morning and my eyes could barely manage to stay open any longer, or when I had to go about another daily task, I still dreamt of and thought of the world of Winter and what Helen would face next.

I’ve had my eye on this book for two Christmas seasons but never have the time at that festive season to read anything. So, as soon as the audiobook came out, I jumped at the chance to immerse myself in a delightful Christmas read out of season. It didn’t dampen my experience. Jennifer Kropf has a poetic style of writing that slides like hot chocolate down the throat, warm and gooey in a good way. There is an abundance of adjectives throughout that occasionally distracted me from the action but otherwise the writing is solid. Her prose is ideal for a Christmassy read, strongly reminiscent of Narnia, with solid world-building and vivid settings.

Overall, I enjoyed A Soul as Cold as Frost. I’m very interested to see where the series leads and dive into the characters more. This is a story I enjoyed reading but it was really hard for me to finished it. This book is a fantasy, action story. The author really respected and follow this two genre but it also (although I haven’t seen anyone talking about it) has mystery which in my opinion was written in a very specific way for the reader to really see every scene and every character as a suspect. I turned to go after her, more curious about what she was doing than what was happening in the family room, even if she was just cleaning up in the kitchen. It's the Chronicles of Narnia meets Harry Potter. This fantastic winter tale is the perfect blend of classic portal fantasy and the magic world co-existing with our own. It's a beautiful reminder of what is truly important in life." I would rather stay in for the month of December and have my grandmother read us boring old Christmas tales to spare us the holiday drama.

Merry Christmas, my dear! My grandmother, Wendy Wilthsmurther, appeared from the living room in a flour-covered apron and reached down to give me a hug even though it had barely been two hours since I’d seen her. Her arms were warm in comparison to my cold skin, and I shot her a crooked half-smile when she pulled away. All the scene were described in a way you could literally understand everything, However, I found it hard to read some chapters because of the amount of information it has; this as a result of how scene were described, I understand that is good to give enough information to understand the location but sometimes I just found it to overwhelming. This is a book you have to really pay attention to and it can be a little heavy because of everything it describes. As I said, I really enjoyed reading it but several times I had to stop doing it because I couldn’t focus or I just didn’t understand some scenes or things that were happening so that was something I do not like. The book although it is for young adult sometimes I felt it was for adults because of the dialogues. Perhaps of that, the book it’s always moving, there is something happening all the time and that made me keep reading it. I do find the story really interesting but I didn’t like that much how some scenes (Not all of them) were described, I think some chapters had too much information and made the story slow.
