About this deal

Another benefit of dobsonians is their unrivalled light gathering capabilities when compared to the cost. Another telescope with the same size and aperture such as a Schmidt would cost twice as much. Seasoned astronomers know that the more light you can gather, the further away you can see and the more you’ll be able to explore. Unfortunately, Dobsonian Telescopes tend to be quite heavy. Key Considerations when Purchasing a Dobsonian Telescope i) Consider the Aperture While the exact objects you can see depend on the current weather conditions, time of year, eyepieces and humidity, you are sure to find some specular objects worth seeing.

With a large 10" Newtonian reflector optical tube, this telescope has enough light-gathering ability to bring out impressive detail in celestial objects while remaining remarkably portable. You can expect sharp, bright views of Jupiter's four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, the rings of Saturn, the gaseous glow of the Orion Nebula, dust lanes in the Lagoon Nebula, and our neighbor galaxy, Andromeda. Compared to the StarSense Explorer DX 130 AZ, the 10" Dobsonian has 380+% more light gathering area, providing better views of faint objects. S The highest practical limit is different from the often used "highest theoretical magnification" specification. The "theoretical" limit generally is 50x the aperture of the scope in inches (2x the aperture in mm). So for example, an 80mm refractor is capable of 160x, and a 10" telescope is theoretically capable of 500x magnification.

Conclusion: Which 10-Inch Telescope Should You Consider Buying?

The large aperture of a 10 inch Dobsonian allows you to see very bright images. Choosing the right filters and eyepieces can maximize the details you can perceive with your telescope. This Dobsonian telescope features a 10-inch aperture that is specially designed to collect more light from the sky. Because of that, you will be able to have a clear view of many faint deep-sky objects as well as different objects in our planetary system. Venus – Venus is really beautiful and when you know more about how to find Venus, and the mystery of the planet the more exciting it will be to see it with your own eyes. This 10-inch reflector telescope features a two-inch eyepiece that is designed to produce a detailed and crisp view full of contrast. It is a great choice for everyone who enjoys astrophotography or simply wants to capture the beautiful view that this telescope provides.

My first night out didn’t go so well, everything was blurry and never got into focus, thinking it was a collimation issue I followed the guidance from YT channel "Space Time With Robert" https://youtu.be/53sgGeAqMQs which helped me realise I had not fitted the viewer extension tube which was still in the box. Doh!! This 10-inch aperture telescope comes with a 25mm Plossl and a two-inch Crayford focuser which allows you to add any number of eyepieces whether you want to use a two-inch or an inch and a quarter eyepiece. It allows you to suit your viewing needs. inch telescopes deliver impressive resolution and, thanks to their aperture, a great deal of light-gathering power for the amateur astronomer. Because light-gathering power scales directly with the area of a telescope’s aperture, a 10-inch telescope can gather four times as much light as a 5-inch telescope. Another great thing about this reflector telescope is that it comes with a big 10-inch aperture that collects the lights even from the smallest sky objects. It is specially designed to provide you with the most beautiful view of even the faintest celestial objects. You can find different 10-inch telescopes that come in a wide price range. If you can’t afford a telescope that costs more than a thousand dollars you can find many models that cost half as much. It's that easy to locate object after object, so many more in an evening than you could ever find before.Naturally, budget dobsonian telescopes are usually a hit with novice stargazers and even kids. So most customers were very pleased with both the low price range as well as how easy the model is to set up. Another factor that people can’t stop talking about is how light it is. The telescope is small and light enough not to be an inconvenience. However, experts and experienced stargazers couldn’t help but notice that the scope keeps shifting and needs frequent refocusing and you also can’t quite see Saturn’s rings. Should You Buy It? While other astronomy apps may claim that they can help you find objects, they rely exclusively on the phone's gyros and accelerometers, which aren't as accurate as LISA technology. The included 8×50 finder scope is a premium right-angle model presenting a correct left/right and up/down oriented image for easy aiming of your 10″ Dobsonian telescope. The XT10 Classic is refreshingly easy to use thanks to its simple, "point-and-view" Dobsonian design. Instead of a more complex tripod and mount foundation, which can be a nuisance to setup and balance, the SkyQuest XT10 reflector optical tube is supported by a sturdy wooden base. This base is what makes the XT10 Classic telescope a Dobsonian reflector by name, as the first such design was made by ingenious "sidewalk astronomer" John Dobson. Just set the XT10 Classic Dobsonian base down where you want to observe, bring out the reflector optical tube, and securely couple the tube to the base using the CorrecTension springs. That's it! You're ready to take the family on inspiring and educational celestial adventures exploring the planets, Moon, and a myriad of deep-sky treasures such as nebulas, star clusters, and galaxies. Brand wise it didn’t look like it really made much difference if I went with any of these brands Bresser, Sky-Watcher, Celestron, Explore Scientific. They all seemed to be very good but had slight variances on what extras are provided. I went what thought was a reasonably priced product, the Bresser 10" Dob. Although this option only provided one lens, a 25mm Plossl, it also comes with a Sun filter so I thought might be something worth trying out should the opportunity arise. While other astronomy apps may claim that they can help you find objects, they rely exclusively on the phone's gyros and accelerometers, which aren't as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can accurately tell you when your target is visible in the eyepiece.
