About this deal

JST manufactures a large number of series (families) of connectors. [2] The PCB (wire-to-board) connectors are available in top (vertical) or side (horizontal) entry, and through-hole or surface-mount.

The JST-PH connector is used on many high current micro ESC and LiPo batteries - e.g. the E-flite Blade mCPX helicopter, the Spektrum AR6400LBL receiver and several Parkzone, E-Flite 'UMX' models. A majority of JST through-hole headers can't withstand the temperatures required for reflow soldering, because the plastic has a lower melting point since they were designed for wave soldering methods. Some JST surface-mount headers are designed to handle higher temperatures of reflow soldering. [25] Connector confusion on the internet [ edit ] This is a thin, low-profile 2.0mm pitch connector 8.0mm in height after mounting and 4.5mm in width. ZH is one of the smallest pitch types of through-hole JST connector. Types smaller than this are all SMD. I am told these are common 3D printer related applications. Example part numbers

Connector Types

To minimize confusion, it is best to describe a connector using: the manufacturer's name, exact connector series, and optionally the pitch, such as "JST-XH" or "JST-XH-2.50mm" or "2.50mm JST XH-series" or other variations. I don’t use these very much but one advantage of them is height. The mated assembly is considerably slimmer than any other type of connector I use. It’s a shame the pitch isn’t 2.54mm – I would use them a lot more otherwise. That said, you can usually jam 2 or 3 (maybe even 4) position headers onto strip board if needed. Example part numbers Very similar to the above series, however in a dual row configuration. Commonly used in LCD / LVDS applications. GH (1.25mm pitch) Your male connector has a bar down the center, which corresponds to the long slot in the middle on the female connector.

A female JST PH has one slot (or rather a cut-out) going down in the middle of the female. Which corresponds to the bar going down the middle of the male (as can be seen on your photo). Either side of the slot/cut-out are two small holes at the bottom. These are very similar to PH/XH however less common. Generally found in consumer products (for example: Japanese brand LCD televisions) which need to perform well in HALT testing. VH is a larger type of JST connector featuring positive latching and is generally used in high voltage and/or high current connections. Power supply connections in Japanese brand appliances is the most likely place to find them. JST-SH | Molex Picoblade (1.25mm) | JST-ZH | Molex 2mm | JST-RCY | 1.27mm | AR6400/PKZ3352 | DC | Power JST France, electronic components manufacturer, was established in Vitry-le-François in 1989. Our plant is composed of 3 machine shops (molding, assembly and stamping) and an industrializationA teeny weeny surface mount only connector family from JST. Commonly found inside laptops for connecting various items to the motherboard. Housings are available with “wings” to aid disconnection. Housings are “SH” and headers are “SR”. Example part numbers Like the above series, also surface mount only however featuring positive latching mechanism and a completely different type of mating surface. VH (3.96mm pitch)

See the top left female connector in this photo from Common JST Connector Types - PH (2.0mm pitch): The female PH has a wide cut out and two holes at the bottom (2 mm pin spacing), whereas the XH has two slots from the top towards the bottom (2.5 mm pin spacing). a b "List of JST connector series; JST". Archived from the original on 2020-11-12 . Retrieved 2013-08-31. JST connectors are electrical connectors manufactured to the design standards originally developed by J.S.T. Mfg. Co. (Japan Solderless Terminal). [1] JST manufactures numerous series (families) and pitches (pin-to-pin distance) of connectors. [2] [3]

Product profile

There's a good reference at mattmillan.com which helps to identify different types of JST connectors.

The term "JST" is sometimes incorrectly used as a vernacular term meaning any small white electrical connector mounted on PCBs. EH is a 2.5mm pitch connector deployed in low cost products where a current carrying connector is needed, but PCB real-estate is highly constrained. They are significantly slimmer than XH connectors. Example part numbers This connector is also available in a surface mount configuration. Its housing is made of heat resistant resin so that it is not adversely affected during reflow soldering. Because of its tiny size and ability to be surface mounted, this connector meets the demand for high-density mounting of components inside electronic products. JST Corporate Profile and History". JST. Archived from the original on 27 November 2016 . Retrieved 13 June 2017. It is designed to meet the demand for high-density connection of internal wires to printed circuit boards. It is compact, highly reliable and low in cost.Choosing the Right JST Connector". DronesEtc. Archived from the original on 4 March 2016 . Retrieved 13 August 2015. Your male connector also has two small lumps/keys then correspond to the two small holes either side of the long slot on the female. The solder side of the header has a retention mechanism that prevents it from floating during soldering. As a result, the header can be positioned accurately. The fully shrouded header has walls on all four sides to prevent improper connection to the mating housing and to prevent the intrusion of flux and other contaminants.
