About this deal
I have plenty of other Netgear switches from the prosafe line and they allow to monitor everything through SNMP especially temperatures and fan speeds and status. The last thing you want in an enterprise environment is to have a switch fail due to bad fans causing it to overheat. Automatic Voice over IP prioritisation (Auto-VoIP) simplifies most complex multi-vendor IP telephone deployments, providing the best class of service to VoIP streams (both data and signalling) over other ordinary traffic by classifying traffic, and enabling correct egress queue configuration. Similarly, Auto-Video VLAN enables IGMP snooping to minimise broadcast streams. Reliability, Performance and Troubleshooting
QoS (Quality of Service) for traffic prioritisation including port-based, 802.1p and L2/L3/L4 DSCP-based. LLDP, SNMP, LAG, VLANs, QoS, and tons of other business-level features built in and easy to configure
Smart Control Centre, a powerful tool for multi-switch discovery, deployment, monitoring and firmware upgrades. I reduced the review from 5 stars to 4 because of this extra hassle, and because of the limited SNMP monitoring the switch supports. One thing to note is that more advanced configuration requires a Windows-based SCC tool, but if you're buying this switch, that should not be a problem and as a technologist you should have something that can run Windows in addition to macOS. If you don't, then don't rip Netgear, rip yourself for not having a dual-boot machine or even just a basic virtualization app ;) As a leading provider of network equipment for SMBs, NETGEAR understands the importance of providing PoE options that can adapt to the business’s needs, whether in the hospitality, catering, education or retail domains. IEEE 802.3at PoE+ Front-panel LEDs are bright, laid out well, and easy to reference to see what's going on in your network
Dual chassis fans that only turn on under intense load (I'm guessing other reviewers that complained about this weren't ventilating it properly or had defective units)fully-powered PoE+ ports (if you are a big time IP camera user like myself, realize that most current consumer IP cams use around only 3-4W of power each, so 190W is way more than enough to power 24 cameras if that's the reason you're buying this switch) L2/L3/L4 Access control lists (ACLs) for granular network access control including 802.1x port authentication.
