Most weapons do not have a different Structure Damage, though Explosives typically deal increased Structure Damage. The bread and butter of the game, the SCAR is undoubtedly Fortnite’s best weapon and has been almost since the start. By abusing first-shot accuracy and also the gun’s crazy low bloom, you can breeze through a fully shielded opponent from a decent distance without much fuss. It’s also not too bad up close, either, just in case you don’t have an SMG to pair with your shotgun. A specific noise is played when a critical hit is landed, and the damage number is larger (and yellow if the opponent has no shield left). Fortnite boasts a vast number of weapons that can all be found throughout the game's various locations. Players can search chests and vending machines, inside of which loot can be found. In terms of what to carry around, small shield potions are the best bet. You can gulp them down in no time for 25 shield points, and although they can only give you a maximum of 50 at a time, they’re perfect for keeping you sustained between firefights. The only real downside to the SCAR is that it’s almost like a strange curse to find it early on. Other players will hunt you down to get their hands on it if they hear you firing, as well as medium bullets not being all that common early on. Still, if you can reach the mid-game with a SCAR in your inventory alongside your hopes and dreams, you’re setting yourself up for glory. In Fortnite, the trade-off for high damage is often a slower fire rate. For example, the pump shotgun can crush an enemy with full health and shields in one shot. But if you miss, then you’ll have to wait more than a second to fire again. That might not seem like a long time, but in a close-range battle it’s an age. If you know that your aim isn’t great, then the tactical shotgun might be a better option.
