About this deal

Gin: Use your favorite gin. Durham Distillery Conniption (American Dry) Gin is an old standby, but I've also been enjoying Bar Hill Gin lately, too. Use whatever you like! The red colour of the drink is absolutely festive, getting everyone into the holiday spirit. A skewer of fresh cranberries and sprig of evergreen rosemary makes it the perfect Christmas gin drink. Making this cranberry gin drink is super easy. Everything gets mixed together in a glass. There is no shaker, no muddling or anything extra required. Just pour all of the ingredients in a glass filled with ice, and mix. Top with the ginger ale at the last minute so the drink stays nice and fizzy when you serve it.

Making your cranberry gin now will give you just over a month of steeping, perfect for serving during the holidays, and more importantly, it’ll make a super Christmas gift! Simple Syrup: you can easily make homemade simple syrup, which is prepared by heating equal parts water and white sugar. I like to put the cranberries on skewers so they retain their sugar coating. If you drop them right into the drink, it's like the sugar will dissolve off. Cranberry juice: You can use either cranberry juice or cranberry juice concentrate. Whatever floats your boat. Garnishes: As always, garnishes aren't mandatory. But I recommend garnishing your G&T with cranberries (fresh or sugared) and/or a lime wedge. Before you start, read my step-by-step instructions, with photos, hints and tips so you can make this perfectly every time. Or you can nix the adding the tonic water and have a bottle of tonic water and a bottle of soda water on the side, allowing guests to add the sparkler of their choice after they pour their drink. 🥃 What if I don't like gin?

It’s fruity, and not only a touch sweet, but also, with a definite hit of cranberry bitter. The vanilla adds just the merest hint of mellow creaminess to it, barely discernible.

To be honest, I've always thought that (some) gin and tonics sometimes taste like a Christmas tree. Or at least taste the way that a Christmas tree smells. Know what I mean? Maybe? No?Agree to disagree. Rimmer: Bloody Mary and Caesar lovers should outfit their bar with a handy rimmer for salting and sugaring glassware. Combine equal amounts of water and granulated sugar in saucepan and stir to combine. I frequently do 1 cup of each or 2 cups of each if I want to have some on hand for future drinks.
