About this deal

Sodium bicarbonate may cause problems when consumed at doses higher than 0.3 g per kilogram of body weight. However, most pre-workout supplements do not contain this much ( 17). So what does it do? Well, Taurine has shown to help prevent cramping during exercise, so it’s actually a pretty useful ingredient.

We’ll analyze it’s nutrient profile for you in the next section. But first, let’s find out more about the company, Purge Nutrition. Agmatine Sulfate is an ingredient that we’re not completely sold by. It’s actually used to alleviate pain or help treat drug addicts, but it’s also believed to improve your sporting performance.

The 'recommended' dosage is around 200 - 500mg a day. They have included the higher end of the dose.

Two additional ingredients in many pre-workout supplements are beta alanine and niacin (vitamin B3). Why? Because studies have shown that it doesn’t benefit you, while Betaine can also cause your breath and sweat to smell fishy. We’re not joking either, this is an official side effect that is linked with this ingredient. It has been linked with increased endurance and the 'ability to get pumped up' - Scientific terminology around here. So, if you haven’t guessed, Ornithine is basically believed to improve your nitric oxide levels. But it’s not as well studies as Citrulline Malate, so this isn’t necessary in Purge PRE V2 in our honest opinion. Anyway, the version of HydroMax that’s found in Purge PRE V2 is a patented form of Glycerol; this is believed to help keep you hydrated. The suggested amount is around 700 mg - 3,000 mg to start seeing that 'pump' and seeing any extended training benefits. Unless you are used to Beta Alanine, you will get a lovely tingling feeling (think of ants..over your body).

The power house of the majority of stim based pre workouts. A 300mg dose will give you the hit that you need, without going into crazy territory. Basically, there’s not much better than feeling your arms inflate while curling weights. So, we’re very happy when we see an optimal 6,000mg dosage of Citrulline Malate. If you don’t mind feeling a bit tingly during your workouts, then you probably won’t mind Beta-Alanine. But some people feel too distracted by this side effect. It’s clear to see that Purge Sports have researched the ingredients added in this pre-workout and attempted to create an effective product. However, Purge PRE V2 hasn’t quite met our expectations. In fact, we actually like the new containers for this company’s supplements. They’ve gone for more ‘modern’ with a distinct style, which we’re a fan of. Dosed at 4–6 g per day, it has been shown to increase exercise performance and reduce fatigue in high intensity exercises lasting 1–4 minutes ( 9, 10).

I guess time will tell, I am not sure why it's currently in a pre workout though, as even with this pre workout, I can't see this doing a huge difference. In comparison, 1 cup, or 240 milliliters (mL), of coffee contains only 95 mg ( 5). Ways to reduce side effects The most common side effect associated with creatine is weight gain, which may be due to water retention. While there are anecdotal reports of other side effects — including digestive issues, dehydration, and muscle cramps — these have not been observed in clinical studies ( 7). Ways to reduce side effects When you google HydroMax, some strange things show up (we don’t recommend that you google this if you’re at work)… Creatine is typically dosed with a loading phase of 5 g, four times per day for 5–7 days, followed by a 3–5-g daily maintenance dose. However, higher doses may be recommended in some cases ( 7).
