About this deal

The one other quirk is unlikely to bother too many people. Xiaomi puts two color intensity modes in the Poco X3 Pro, Standard and Saturated. Both are ‘hotter’ than the traditional sRGB color standard, so there’s no true relaxed color mode here. But this is probably more a sign we spend too much time looking at phones than anything else. Except prohibited by applicable law, all implied warranties (including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose) shall be limited to the duration of this limited warranty. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on the duration of an implied warranty, so the above limitation may not apply to you. 6. LIMITATION OF DAMAGES

The Poco X3 has a 6.67-inch screen. Despite coming to this device from the 6.53-inch Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, the difference is obvious – so prepare yourself. Although, since Poco phones tend to attract the enthusiast crowd, it likely won’t be a huge problem to them. While the design will be hit or miss depending on who you are - there’s definitely a young vibe to the X3 NFC.This is one area where you almost end up wishing the Poco X3 had a smaller sensor , as perhaps then it could have used one of the lens components seen in rivals that don’t suffer such optical issues. The lens also exhibits relatively poor sharpness at the very edges of the frame. Xiaomi hasn’t gone that far. The Poco X3 NFC has a 5160mAh battery, just a mite bigger than the 5040mAh found in its sibling, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9. What edges the Poco X3 NFC ahead of phones in its price class, however, is the fact the night mode is respectable, dynamic range is broad, and saturation leans towards the more natural, muted tones than phones from the likes of Samsung, giving you room to edit. Additionally, the X3 captures ultra-steady video, with stabilization active at up to 4K resolution (30fps) and it looks really good. It’s a form of chromatic aberration, and suggests the Poco X3 NFC’s main camera doesn’t have a good enough lens, despite its reasonably “fast” f/1.89 aperture. A few more pennies spent here would have paid off.

Xiaomi has managed to include a Snapdragon 732G CPU here, which is considerably more capable than the silicon employed by rival devices. The Redmi Note 9 (from another Xiaomi sub-brand) uses the insipid MediaTek Helio G85 CPU, while the Motorola G8 runs on the lesser Snapdragon 665. The Poco X3 NFC went on sale on September 17, 2020 in Europe. We don’t have confirmed US pricing and availability details just yet, but the European figures are enough to catch the eye. The phone world never stands still, and the Poco X3 NFC is sure to be beaten or matched before too long. But, at the time of review in September 2020, this is the best budget gaming phone around. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. 7. EU WARRANTY SERVICE Shooting modes are both comprehensive, and exactly what we’ve come to expect from Xiaomi, with the Poco X3 NFC featuring a virtually identical camera UI to that of the Xiaomi Note 10, and the brand’s Redmi series.Xiaomi used rear glass in 2020’s Poco X2, but this phone and the Poco X3 NFC are largely plastic. There’s no glass bar the screen cover and top-most protective camera layer. Talking of the big G, its apps are sequestered away inside a separate folder. You also get a folder with half a dozen or so third-party apps, ranging from the obvious (Facebook and Netflix) to the somewhat niche (WPS Office and LinkedIn). Use the 2x zoom to take macro images of the same subject and they’ll look far better and sharper than anything the dedicated macro hardware can manage. They look pretty good, actually. While the Poco X3 NFC has a number of fine qualities, refined design isn’t one of them. It’s well built, but slightly bland to look at.

The Poco X3 NFC feels similar to its budget compatriots day-to-day, but with dramatically better results when you play a visually advanced game. The Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro is a fairly large phone. It’s 76.8mm wide. That’s wider than a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra or the nearer-in-price 21:9 aspect Moto G 5G Plus. MIUI is also nice and fluid, except on the odd occasion where the hardware can’t quite keep up with that 120Hz display. It’s nothing drastic, and likely nothing that the software would be able to help much with, but you can tell you’re not dealing with a true flagship here. Poco X3 NFC battery life – Ample stamina and super-fast charging Combined with a resolution of 2400 x 1080, the Poco X3 NFC’s screen is sharp enough, with 395 pixels in every inch, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, it’s relatively scratch resistant too. Adding to the X3 NFC’s hardiness is the fact it ships with a case in the box, sports a pre-fitted screen protector and is IP53 splash-proof. While impressive, they alone don’t make the Poco X3 screen special. It’s the 120Hz refresh rate that does. Most budget phones come with a screen that refreshes 60 times a second. The panel here refreshes at up to 120 times a second.

The Poco X3 NFC is cracking camera phone at an exceptional price – but it does have some niggly quirks

Yes, they are old, 2019 phones. But the older 8-series Snapdragon chipsets are still more powerful than today’s 7-series ones. Like most of the best night modes, it takes a couple of seconds to capture an image. But unlike the best, its main effect is to bring out shadow detail, to increase dynamic range, rather than to radically improve all-round clarity and detail.

A better comparison would be the Realme 7 5G, which has a similar combination of low-end processor, 5000mAh battery and 120Hz display; it also loses around 11% in this test. The Oppo Reno4 Z, which pairs a 120Hz display with a much smaller 4000mAh battery, loses a whopping 15-16%. So the Poco isn’t doing all that badly within this subsection of affordable 120Hz phones.MIUI 12 makes such style tweaks a cinch. Fairly comprehensive customization is on tap. Battery life
