About this deal

Maqui ( Aristotelia chilensis) is an evergreen plant native to Chile that produces antioxidant-rich purple berries. Most often these berries are consumed as dried powder, juiced, or taken in extract or capsule form. You can use the powder similarly to how you’d use acai, such as making granola bowls. Other traditional uses for MB include brewing wine and chicha, a Chilean alcoholic beverage.

The Mapuche do not need scientific evidence to know that Maqui berries make them healthier and more vital, but Western science was able to conclusively prove what they always knew. The maqui berry has the highest quality and quantity of antioxidants of all known fruits in the world. With an ORAC value twice that of the runner-up - the acai berry - it is the large amount of antioxidants from the fertile soils of Patagonia that provides amazing health benefits. Antigenotoxic activities of various berries on colorectal cancer types were discussed concerning the action mechanism, chemoprotective, and anticarcinogenic properties of berries aside from emphasizing the importance of gut microbiota covered by in vivo and in vitro studies [ 141]. Chilean blueberry and raspberry extracts were used to treat HT-29 and SW48 human colon cancer cell lines. Cell death ratios were observed as 80.1 and 72.5% for SW48 and HT-29 cell lines, respectively. When exposed to Chilean berry extracts, the cell growth inhibition was observed 90–100% when the extract was applied at the highest possible concentration (2000 µg/mL) [ 142]. In an in vitro study on human colonic mucosa cell cultures, oxidative stress-avoiding and antimutagenic properties of elderberry were assessed. Despite the colonic digestion loss of bioavailability, exposure to the 1 mg/mL freeze dried elderberry extract resulted in 22% reduction for intracellular ROS production, prevented the oxidative DNA damage at a level of 46%, and inhibited the oxidant-induced mutagenicity of Salmonella typhimurium TA102 strain at a ratio of 26% [ 143]. The effect of Maqui berry extract on human colon cancer cell lines (HT-29 and Caco-2) growth inhibition based on inflammatory mediators, which are COX-2 and NF-ϰB, were investigated. The results showed a significant decrease of growth of HT-29 and Caco-2 cell lines correlated with the inhibition of COX-2 and NF-ϰB due to the externally determined chemoprotective effect (with detailed antioxidative activity assays) of Maqui berry [ 144].

The maqui berry is one of nature's medicinal wonders.

Any illness that ends with "itis" is an inflammatory disease. The anthocyanins exhibit powerful anti-inflammatory activity, and do it as well as drugs for the same purposes, without negative effects. It’s important to emphasize that all medical research remains preliminary and unproven. You should only use it as a food or dietary supplement, not as a treatment for any disease. After two months of supplementation, MB led to increased tear fluid production, which helps reduce dry eye irritation. Researchers believe that maqui helps restore normal eye fluid production due to its ability to to fight oxidative stress, which can damage glands in the eyes. 4. The best (and worst) to buy

Among the dark berries with polyphenols that are off the charts, this is the only one that is readily available for sale in the US. Not fresh, but in frozen form. Because it can help ease inflammation, MB can be beneficial for those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and joint pain.
