About this deal

Ahsoka episode 5 introduces Darth Maul's Mandalorian super commandos in live-action, showcasing their distinctive horned helmets and violent design. Saxon traveled with a complement of super commandos to the Wren Stronghold on the planet Krownest, where members of Clan Wren had encircled Sabine and the two Jedi, one being Ezra Bridger, whom he had fought with previously, and the second being Bridger's master Kanan Jarrus. Saxon called upon Ursa to give him the Darksaber, which she had previously retrieved from her daughter to bargain her life with, seeking the ancient weapon to firmly cement his rule over Mandalore as legitimate. With the Darksaber in hand, Saxon declared that Ursa and all of Clan Wren had indeed held their end of the bargain, but to do so had consorted with traitors, making them liable to treason, for which he intended to wipe out the entire clan as an example. When Tristan Wren, son of Ursa and brother of Sabine, protested and said they were all Mandalorian therefore making such a betrayal unreasonable, Saxon realized he still had use and offered him a place to stay with the Empire over his family. To the Viceroy's satisfaction, Tristan initially seemed to side with him before declaring his place was at his family's side. Unconcerned, Saxon declared that Clan Wren would end with him and ignited the Darksaber as a signal to his men. [11]

Mandalorians had a code of honor unique to themselves, mostly based around martial traditions. Single combat could be used to settle disputes, and facing strong opponents was considered the most noble possible path in life. They were as comfortable with hand-to-hand combat as with blasters. The Darksaber, a custom lightsaber created by Mand’alor Tarre Vizsla, a Mandalorian Jedi, would later become a signature weapon in the hands of the planet’s leadership in the time of the Empire. Similar to the Mandalorian Super Commandos the Nite owls are highly mobile and get easy access to free focus actions. Where these two groups differ is while the Mandalorian Super Commandos are more combative the Nite Owls are more protective of each other making them rather difficult to kill. Saxon then deployed a new weapon against several Mandalorians under Ursa and Tristan. The weapon vaporized all the warriors except the Wrens. Saxon and Hark later set up a trap to capture the weapon's original creator, Sabine. At first, Saxon and Hark were able to force Sabine to enhance the weapon's range, but she was able to modify it to target Saxon's and his stormtroopers' armor. After Sabine destroyed the weapon, Saxon was killed as his Star Destroyer blew up. [3] Legacy [ ] Like in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, these underground Mandalorians have their own ideas of right and wrong. In this case, it’s codified as the Way of the Mand’alor. While the status of their Manda’lor is unknown, the Armorer has authority over the other Mandalorians, and at one point reminds them of one of the tenets of their culture: it’s critical to never remove the helmet or have it removed by others. “This is the Way,” she reminds them. Mandalorians are mostly — but not always — human. People of any species can technically be part of the culture if they follow its tenets. We’ve seen only human Mandalorians so far, but in the Legends timeline, they varied greatly. Since she has horns on her helmet, it’s possible the Armorer is a Zabrak — or just likes the intimidation factor of the horns.Hiding at the corner of a building, Sabine wants to help Ezra, but Rau tells her that their only advantage is that the Imperial Mandalorians don't know where they are. When Sabine points out that Fenn has Ezra's lightsaber, he replies that not having it might actually save him. He then leads Sabine to a safe place outside the camp where they can watch the movements of the Imperial Mandalorians. When the Empire rose to power, they found a willing ally and puppet leader in Mandalorian super commando Gar Saxon, who was named Imperial Viceroy of Mandalore. For a time, the planet was totally under Imperial control. The Mandalorian Super Commandos cost 4PC with 0 force points, 8 stamina, and 2 durability which puts them in the average making them easy to list build with and fine from a health standpoint. The B1 Battle Droids come in at 3PC with 0 force points, 9 Stamina, and 2 Durability. 3PC makes it a little harder to move this unit around in squad building but in tandem with Kalani allows them to go with any of the 3 Primaries that get 8 squad points. Following Kalani’s theme the B1 Battle Droids have 9 Stamina and 2 Durability giving them slightly above average health. Despite being some of the coolest Mandalorians, Ahsoka episode 5 marks the first time Mandalorian super commandos have appeared in live-action. This is mostly due to the fact that very little live-action Star Wars material has covered content from The Clone Wars. Another reason they’ve never shown up is the in-universe short amount of time they existed. Darth Maul ruled Mandalore for less than a year, and while there were many Mandalorians who chose to follow him, most of were captured or killed during Ahsoka and Bo-Katan’s Siege.

Captain Rex comes in at 4PC and has 0 force points, 9 stamina, and 2 durability. This seems to be close to standard for the core set meaning he will be easy to switch between squads for list building purposes. The Separatists bring Kalani, Super Tactical Droid as the Secondary unit commanding his Supporting Unit of B1 Battle Droids. The helmet of an Imperial Super Commando was seen at Aunt Z's Tavern on the Colossus during the New Republic Era. [11] Behind the scenes [ ] Mandalorian warriors, [1] also referred to as Mandalorian commandos, [18] were Mandalorian soldiers that embodied Mandalore's warrior heritage and served warrior-centric Mandalorian clans. [13] They used various types of Mandalorian armor, including Mandalorian rally master armor. Mandalorian warriors used the military rank of rally master, [19] and the group Death Watch used a rank insignia. [20] Jaig Eyes were a combat honor that adorned [21] the helmets of Mandalorian warriors. [2] History [ ]

Gar Saxon was a Mandalorian human male who served as a commander of the Mandalorian super commandos in Maul's Shadow Collective during the Clone Wars and later as Imperial Viceroy and Governor of his homeworld of Mandalore during the reign of the Galactic Empire. As a female member of the human species, [2] Kast had brown hair, blue eyes, [4] and fair skin. [2] By the time of the Siege of Mandalore, Kast had purple hair. [5] Equipment [ ]

Fortunately, Rebel weapons expert Sabine Wren, an estranged member of a Mandalorian clan who hadn’t bowed to the Empire, defeated Saxon in combat. Doing so wasn’t just a personal victory, but a symbolic claiming of the Mandalorian legacy. Bo-Katan Kryze costs 4PC for 0 force points, 8 stamina, and 2 durability which is actually rather low for a Secondary unit but she does have some tools to make up for this. In the year 19 BBY, [10] after Maul was bested in combat by his former master, Darth Sidious, [8] he was imprisoned in the Spire, a Confederacy of Independent Systems prison on the planet Stygeon Prime. Kast and Commander Gar Saxon followed Sidious and Maul to Stygeon, and were tasked by Mandalorian Prime Minister Almec, [7] whom Maul had selected as the public leader of Mandalore after his takeover of the planet, [11] with infiltrating the Spire and rescuing Maul. More droids coming this way. They're still down the corridor." ―Rook Kast sights incoming battle droids within the Spire [7] After the Mandalorian Civil War, the New Mandalorians led by Duchess Satine Kryze adopted and created a pacifist society, a sharp turn from Mandalore's warrior culture. Those who did not accept were exiled to Concordia, and by the time of the Clone Wars were thought to have died out. In reality, however, warriors were still active and grouped into the organization known as Death Watch, which was secretly led by Pre Vizsla. The Mandalorian bounty hunter and foundling Jango Fett, who participated in the Mandalorian Civil Wars, was a famous individual who wore a distinctive set of Mandalorian armor, although the New Mandalorian government did not know how he obtained it. [11] Death Watch was active throughout the Clone Wars, eventually joining the Shadow Collective led by Maul and overthrew the New Mandalorian government and civil war erupted once again. [5]

The Mandaloriantakes place five years after Return of the Jedi. The Rebel Alliance has become the New Republic and has ousted the remnants of the Empire from most of the galaxy. Only Imperial warlords and smaller cells of the Emperor’s forces remain, and mostly in the Outer Rim where the New Republic doesn’t yet have enough pull.Saxon's death plunged Mandalore into a civil war. [10] The commandos fell under the leadership of Mandalore's new Imperial governor and Saxon's brother, Tiber Saxon. [3] In 1 BBY, [9] commandos under Captain Hark accompanied a convoy of stormtroopers and scout troopers to escort Alrich Wren to be executed in Sundari. The commandos fought against several members of the Spectres and Clan Wren. [3]
