Create a grid and then put lots of names, events, dates and facts down in each square that are connected with the topic/s that you are revising. Then cut them up. Play fact dominoes with a friend/s. The questions in a history GCSE exam aren’t always like questions in exams for other subjects. It is hugely beneficial to have a variation, but you need to be sure that you don’t end up with a set of flashcards, a timeline, and a mind map on the exact same pieces of information, as this would be a huge waste of your time! 8. Some people may find that timelines are a great way to create a comprehensive, detailed overview of a time period. You can almost combine the idea of a mind map with your timeline, branching information off dates and events. A good way of making this kind of timeline easier to use is to colour code them (see Point 3 above if you would like more detail on this).

Take Rests between Revision Sessions (Try the Pomodoro Technique) There are plenty of dedicated GCSE history channels that lay out the curriculum in a fun and visual way through animations, deep storytelling, and visuals like timelines and mind maps.So, you can instantly see which subjects require the most focus, and you have a date to concentrate on it. After your first week's revision, you might feel differently. Mind maps may help you make links between events and their causes and consequences, or the impact of certain important individuals. You should incorporate some reasoning and challenge some of the assumptions by stating why you feel an act or event was significant. If there are 16 marks to be had, you pretty much need at least 16 points to make. GCSE History is very unique in the way that it requires an amazingly high level of information retention from the student. No other GCSE subject demands a student remember as much as they have to when revising GCSE History.
