Due to its unique composition, engineered wood floors are durable enough to withstand high volumes of activity, as well as high levels of moisture and humidity. Although they’re not 100% waterproof, engineered wood flooring can work well in kitchens. One study found that subjects who ate 43 grams of walnuts per day over eight weeks had more probiotics and other good gut bacteria than those who didn’t. We tested this stain on five types of wood to see how it looks – whitewood, poplar, plywood, pine, and oak. How does Dark Walnut look on pine?

Color/Appearance: Heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Color can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast. Sapwood is pale yellow-gray to nearly white. Figured grain patterns such as curl, crotch, and burl are also seen.

White Walnut Wood is a surprisingly light color, though not exactly white; it’s a light or medium tan. Claro Walnut Wood is grown in the Western United States, primarily in California and Oregon. The trees are between 9m – 18m tall and are 1 – 1.5m in circumference. Oil-based poly is best for darker types of wood that are warm enough to hide the yellowish-amber hue. Walnut wood is popular for its chocolate or coffee color. It is also the only dark wood that’s native to North America. Here’s something worth noting: the center of the tree is the only part that bears the deep hues. Called the heartwood, this part of the tree may also have other colors such as purples, lighter browns, grays, and even reddish tints.
