About this deal

Sleepers can provide a suitable edge restraint for the sub-base material, as well as providing an anchoring point for the perimeter of the fake turf. You’ll see that there is no one-size-fits-all and there are pros and cons to every type of edging, as described below. You want to avoid making the gap too small because this causes the grass to compact and bunch up along the paver edge.

This natural look can be achieved for very little maintenance, as it will not need mowing, feeding or watering. For a typical fake grass installation, you’ll need to excavate your existing lawn and install a sub-base consisting of a minimum of 50mm of MOT Type 1.

To fix fake grass on hard surfaces like concrete or stone, you'll need to use some adhesive. Make sure the surface is clean before applying the adhesive, and look for a type of adhesive that's made specifically for fake grass. In these circumstances, it's best to apply the adhesive sparingly so that you don't clog up the ground's drainage system. 6. Lay Turf Infill and Brush the Surface It is possible to use artificial grass on your driveway, but you should certainly avoid areas where it’s likely that someone may drive over it. Joins are a crucial part of your lawn, and must be made carefully so that you have a strong seam. They must also remain invisible when the installation is done. A sub-base layer is key for proper drainage and performance, regardless of how your pavers are set (in concrete or soil). Class II road base is the best base material but is hard to get ahold of for DIY projects, so in this case, DG is recommended. Lay approximately 2" of base material in the gaps and make sure it's evenly dispersed before moving on to compaction.

Whilst it is not possible to install fake turf on areas that will receive vehicular traffic, that’s not to say that it cannot still be utilised on our driveways. It’s the same method our team uses in our installations. Simply follow the steps below to do the same yourself: Step 1: Prepare The Ground For Drainage Any artificial lawn installation begins with ground work. For standard ground installation, the top layer of soil has to be excavated before a sub-base is laid on top. On concrete surfaces, you may have to drill drainage holes prior to laying the grass down.No matter where you want the turf strips to be installed, DFW Turf Solutions is the name to trust. We are dedicated to transforming your residential or commercial landscape with customized artificial turf strip solutions. These nails are temporary, and you will have to remove them later, so avoid hammering them down all the way. You want these to be close enough for a seamless join but not too close to bunch up the grass fibers.
