About this deal

I believe Diana tried to convince us that William has the warrior instincts of Jamie, but not the boldness or passions as he was raised by John. The nature vs. nuture thing. I’ll probably have to read/listen to everything again before the next one to refresh my memory though. What’s up w/ Jamie’s mild reaction when Lord John fessed up that he had carnal knowledge of Claire ? Oh wait, I forgot, this book only serves as a stepping stone for the next installment I didn't like this book as much as the other ones and it didn't even make my favorites list! =( All the other books are 5 star favorites. Oh well =(

Davina Porter is the very best narrator of any book I have listened to. I have listened to many, many books from Steven King to Alan Carr and I could listen to her all night! Her reading is appropriate, passionate, temperate and even - and the accents she does are so good!

I do like Claire. She doesn’t do what I would do if I were DG but she’s consistent even if I want to slap her sometimes! And, of course, I’m totally in love with Jamie (swoon!!).

Wait. I’m not sure we’re talking about the same development. How does the spoiler function work, again? My chief criticism of An Echo in the Bone has to do with a development late in the book that I thoroughly disapproved of. I don’t want to spoil it, but I will say that it did not feel true to the characters, and instead felt as if it were a cheap manipulation of those characters for the purpose of creating conflict. Though it did not change my opinion of the book that much over all, I kind of dread having to deal with the consequences of this development in the next book. Dennis Scott wrote in Jamaica’s post-independence period. He had a distinguished career as a poet, playwright, actor (he was Lester Tibideaux in the Cosby Show), as a dancer in the Jamaican National Dance Theatre, as Editor of Caribbean Quarterly and as the Director of the Jamaica School of Drama, and visiting Associate Professor of Playwriting at the Yale School of Drama. Scott was a polymath.
