About this deal

Genestealers Cult – The Agrellan Earth paint is perfect for painting the strange, hybrid appearance of the Genestealers Cult. Its muted tones can be used to represent the cult’s infiltration into various planetary populations, and its natural hues can be used to accentuate the otherworldly appearance of the Genestealers themselves. Take a moment to consider how nice the sky looks outside. Seriously, just look for a second, empty your mind of your thoughts and take it all it with a few deep breaths. You’ll feel awesome. STEP ONE: OBTAIN BASE, SENSE OF ALL KNOWING CALM THANKS TO THOSE SWEET DEEP BREATHS The key here is to leave a good area flat area for your models to stand on, then some interesting shapes as required.

Step 4 – Drybrush Karak Stone. This paint is extremely similar to the color of Armageddon Dust, but a little bit more vibrant. Drybrush Karak Stone across the entire base, including the slate chips, until there is a bit of highlight on all the raised bits of the texture. Be sure to drybrush all sides of the slate chip, as that’s how you get your defining lines on the stone that you can see at a distance. Note here, that the brand alternative are from the Vallejo Texture Gel range which also offers an array of textured mediums to add context and thematic interest to your miniatures and models. Take a closer look at Vallejo, if you’re looking to expand beyond Games Workshop offerings. Are Citadel Technical Paints Expensive? Based on color theory and the complimentary hues of Agrellan Earth, it was decided to list these armies. Its subdued, organic, and extraterrestrial features of these Xeno armies in the Warhammer 40K universe go well with its earthy tones, which serve as a fantastic foundation and base coat for highlighting and shading with other colors. Agrellan Earth Colour Schemes & Combinations

Zuul the Cat’s Desert Bases

This gives you a lot of freedom to experiment! You can go for the plain, empty wasteland style, or use scrub bushes and trees, and a wide range of colours. Below are a number of techniques our authors use to create their own desert bases – you can try using them, or take them as inspiration for your own. Because your base is covered with a substance that mimics dirt you may be wondering how to attach your mini to the base. There are a couple of good options. Off again to the internet and I found a video on Warhammer TV suggesting to put down ‘Ardcoat on top of the paint rather than PVA. Same principle I suppose and a good place to start. And should the PVA be above or below the paint? I broke down a number of test scenarios and set about to see what would look best. All of these bases were primed with Wraithbone first, all references to “paint” are a splotched mix of Mephiston Red, Vallejo Light Orange, and Vallejo Flat Yellow. Here’s what I inflicted on each one:

Small bits of gravel were added in front bottom area and on the greenstuff with superglue. Sand was put down with PVA glue over the green stuff and also under the ledge and around the bits of gravel. Then agrellan earth was spread across the front area that was still bare base. The neat part about sanded tile grout is that it dries fast. In less than an hour, sanded tile grout can take primer and paint.Any local hardware or home improvement store sells sanded tile grout. You can also get it online ( here).

Tyranids – With its muted, natural hues, Agrellan Earth is an ideal choice for painting the organic, insectoid appearance of the Tyranids. Whether you’re painting Hive Tyrants, Warriors, or Gaunts, this paint provides the perfect foundation for bringing the Tyranids to life on the battlefield. Necrons – The Agrellan Earth paint provides the perfect base coat for painting Necron infantry and machinery. Its earthy tones mimic the ancient, otherworldly appearance of the Necrons, making it an excellent choice for painting their armor, guns, and tanks. It was at this point that I was discussing the bases with my brother, and he obnoxiously asked if I’d used straight PVA or watered down. Another variable to consider, another round of samples!Congrats if you have followed the tute up to this step. Your model is done. You and it are great. Go celebrate this greatness! TheChirurgeon’s Method I have made these bases with bright orange swirls that resemble lava or fire. I have also made these with bright green and purple to represent magic seeping up through the earth to power the caster standing on the base. For the base in this example, I primed it white and then painted it purple and pink randomly. Apply Agrellan Earth

In addition, I thought the surface of the dried Mordant Earth was just too smooth and shiny for what I had in mind. It was far more pāhoehoe than ʻaʻā. It looked frankly like a hard chocolate coating which just made me need to get some ice cream while I pondered what I was going to do next. What Went Wrong, and How to Do It Better You’ll want extremely thin, yet even coverage of Tyrant Skull across the entire base, as that’s what gives it that “pop” at a distance. The Agrellan Earth paint from Citadel Color is a great option for painting three specific Xeno armies in the Warhammer 40K universe. These armies are: Are the Citadel Texture Paints Worth It? Citadel Texture Paint – easy to apply, simple and fast. But, expensive? Are you trying to find an alternative to Agrellan Earth or Astrogranite? Apply it with a suitable tool, I use an old knife blade which is dangerous and stupid, I suggest an old brush would be safer and more effective.

Skails’ Dry Desert Creek

Step 6 – Drybrush Tyrant Skull. Tread carefully with this, as too much will stand out. Get some Tyrant Skull on your brush, wipe the vast majority off, and drybrush the base (including the stones) only until you just start seeing the paint become visible, and then immediately stop for that area. This will likely only happen after a couple strokes. The spak provides the body to our base, allowing the texture paint, ink and dry brushing to do more effective work. I recently got it in my head to make some lava bases for a new army – cooled bits of stone over hot molten magma. While poking around the internet on how to make them look good I noted a recent(ish) Citadel Technical paint – Mordant Earth. But a test base had some strange results so I thought I’d document my experimentation with it and other methods for the benefit of you, gentle reader.
