About this deal

Speaking of Jess, let's talk about how she grows. And this growth literally comes when she is opening herself up to Tommy and Summer, when she is pulled further and further away from Clem. Which in the end really explains a lot. Clem is a toxic character who really gaslights Jess. But when she is taken out of the picture, and while Jess is investigating with Summer and Tommy, she becomes more confident, starts to believe in herself. Jes gets together with her crush of many many years, which I knew would happen the second she mentioned him. But it was just so...unnecessary. In general the ending was just too perfect. (She was finally confident, had a big group of friends, *changed* the schools rules etc. etc.)

I also really liked Summer, fellow Scholarship student and Tommy, Jess’s longtime crush and the deceased Hugh’s best friend. And I admit, given how sweet their interactions were I was wholeheartedly rooting for Jess and Tommy to become more that friends. Jess, a student under strict instructions to keep her record clean or risk losing her scholarship, finds herself at the centre of the investigation when it's revealed that Hugh died in the exact same way as a character in a short story she wrote. The ending felt a bit rushed to me, but I do appreciate that everything came together. There wasn’t anything that didn’t really fit, or holes in the storyline, which I’ve come across every now and then when reading a thriller. The pacing was good and the writing style made it very easy to fly through the book. If there is one thing I really dislike, though, it’s being left in the dark. Whether it’s in a book or in a movie, when people have been teaming up to solve a murder mystery and one of them suddenly remembers something but then storms off???? Like, just say it. If you have been teaming up, that’s what people would do in a “normal” situation. That happened in this book as well, and the moment just felt off with the character saying “But it can’t be - but if it is…. No…. I’ll have to to tell…. Oh, but I can’t….” Nah, that just made me want to throw the book to be honest 😂When I first read the synopsis of this book, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy. When the lovely Laura over at Usborne made that a possibility, I just had to grab the chance. Sadly customs in The Netherlands are a real bitch and held the book for more than a month, but it finally arrived yesterday and I dove right in. And then Jess receives an anonymous text thanking her for the inspiration. With time running out, Jess knows if she doesn't solve this mystery she'll finally have something in common with Hugh Henry. She'll be dead too. About This Edition ISBN: Not yet, but now that I’m published I’m so incredibly excited for This Book Kills to find its way to teenagers! The concept of This Book Kills is what caught my attention first. A teenager, writing a murder story and inspiring an actual murder? That sounds chilling.

This Book Kills by Ravena Guron follows Jess, a scholarship student at an exclusive boarding school only for the elite. The thing is, Jess might have played a part in the murder of one of the boarding school's most popular students.I'll make it clear from the start: I did not kill Hugh Henry Van Boren. I didn't even help. Well, not intentionally." Yes you can! I’m currently working on my second book – I can’t say too much about it, but there’s murder galore and I’ve had so much fun writing in all the twists…

And Penelope has just one wish for her nineteenth birthday—a private concert with Winter Young. When covert ops organization The Panacea Group approaches Winter with this once-in-a-lifetime chance to infiltrate Morrison’s inner circle, Winter must use his fame, cunning, and charisma to pull it off—only he won’t be on his own. This Book Kills is a perfect example of a YA thriller done right. There’s humour, drama, danger and twists galore, not to mention a tense, confined school setting, making it a must-read for fans of One of Us Is Lying or Pretty Little Liars. The story is laced with twist and turns and touches on life as a scholarship student who is under the strict instructions to not get in to any trouble, contrasted with the life of those with money who can try to make anything go away with it. Will they this time?

I can’t remember the last time I was so immersed in a book, that I spent a full all-nighter finishing it, gasped at every hint and literally jumped (all the while dropping the book in excitement) when I correctly guessed who’d done it!La cosa es que, por supuesto, no es muy sutil que digamos.
