About this deal

Hoping to reconnect with her boyfriend Brett, the pair set off on their festive retreat. However, Brett soon runs them into danger when he drives the wrong way. A lovely, enjoyable read from start to finish. Exactly what we have come to expect from Phillipa Ashley. This would be a perfect gift to give this Christmas.’ Reader review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heart-warming … Fantastic to curl up in your chair with a cup of coffee in front of the fire with and smile, laugh and cry your way through. It will really bring out your Christmas spirit!’ NetGalley review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ But fate immediately throws a spanner in the works in the form of a broken-down car, a flooded river and Max; a man who despises Christmas.

Krystle (Krys) didn't have the best childhood moving from town to town with her mother. From a very young age she has dreamt of having the perfect family Christmas. Although this dream has eluded her she now ensures others can fulfil this desire, working with businesses creating amazing Christmas displays and sourcing perfect Christmas decorations for everyone to buy.

Gave me so much joy… I think this book will bring happiness to all that read it’ NetGalley review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can she melt Max’s Grinch-like heart? And can he show her that life doesn’t need to go to plan to take you somewhere magical… If you’re looking for something that’s lighthearted as well as emotional, dark and a little bit hopeful, this is your book. It’s a Christmas book, but perfect for any time of year!

Krys and Max are particularly vivid characters. Both are carrying a burden from their past and illustrating how we can become defined in ways we never intend. I loved the sound of this book and well, Phillipa Ashley can write such humoorous and warm stories and I hoped this festive offering is just like thus. My heart went out to young Krystle at the beginning of this book – a really difficult childhood only made easier by her aunt’s loving care, and the gorgeous sight while on holiday in the Lakes, seen through a window, of a room decorated for Christmas, complete with roaring fire and presents under the tree. It ignited her love for everything Christmas-related – now her year-round and particularly successful career. Can she melt Max’s Grinch-like heart? And can he show her that life doesn’t need to go to plan to take you somewhere magical.... So when she bumps into gorgeous – and single – ex-boyfriend Travis, a no-strings festive fling seems perfect.

Brilliant cosy Christmas read. I could not put this down! It’s one book that is more than just your lighthearted romance. There’s some really dark themes throughout with a big prevalence around death and lower working class society, but there’s also this huge sense of community in the book which is great. That moment when you start reading a book and you fall immediately into a zone that all readers want to be in, whatever that is called, that’s exactly what happened with this book! Immediately I know the characters that I am going to love and the one that I’m not so crazy about. I know I am in for a great journey! These two were meant to be united, although it is not an easy road for them to find happiness together, but it is a romance, so the reader knows it will all end happily.

I absolutely adore Phillipa's Cornish series and have read them all, so when I was offered a chance to read this Christmas novel I was really excited. A lovely, glittery Christmas story… A gem to read, this book is both festive and heart-warming… So enjoyable to read and extremely hard to put down’ NetGalley review⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A huge thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for giving me the immense pleasure of reading the advance reader copy. My A tough upbringing saw Krys taken to the Lakes as a young girl on a break for underprivileged children; where she saw her dream home. Now, as an adult, she's come across the same house and has rented it for the holidays. As Krys is known as Mrs Christmas she is in her element but as Brett is once again called away for work will her Christmas be ruined or could this be the start of a new life? Again a few things happen and Krys helps Harriet one of the home town residents with some preparation for Christmas.

Krytle, who is described by people in London as Mrs Christmas because she runs a holiday business dressing Christmas shop windows and in store displays . She has now booked her favourite house she remembers it from her unhappy childhood, it's meant to be for an extended christmas break she is able to do this as her beloved auntie Lynda has passed away leaving her with some money under the proviso she does 'something that makes you smile or scares you, anything that you'll remember forever'. Themes of grief and community are so beautifully included. The connection between Krys’s childhood and her present personality is sensitively handled. If only her love life were such a success… After being burned by past relationships, she’s now determined to steer clear of love for good. Ashley sets this novel in a Staffordshire village near by the Lakes, it is set in December as she is here in time to save Christmas and the fact it describes the large open fire in 'Holly Manor' several times. Meaning it was cold outside. This is a brilliantly written description book which I couldn't put down once I started I read this in one sitting. Fantastic read set in the Lake District. Expertly written with the usual Phillipa Ashley twists. A great festive read.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
