About this deal

The art is really nice to look at (well not including some panels that resemble them 90's yaoi manga's haha), pacing is ok but it could be a little better but it doesn't feel too forced, characters feel realistic, and the story concept is alright, not too good but not too bad. The girls are the same, MC has a new name for some reason. Can't really say much other than watch the 90's version because it's better in every way except its more HD. Art style manages to be more weird than the original. It doesn't follow the game but that's understandable and I'm sure none of the voice actors are even the same as the ones in the VN The plot was also not necessarily new or original. It was in a boys highschool and the cause of issues was mostly silly jealousy and keeping a secret. At the same time it was well executed and perhaps not a bad choice for a boys love film. The issues were kept simple and clean, but dramatic, and the way it was shown was artsy and interesting in a way that the plot was still entertaining despite not being original. There was a dream scene near the end that I really liked that was an example of little flourishes added to make this movie so entertaining despite its simplicity. Hara is by far the worst part of this story, but he is most easy to ignore in this first volume. I would have enjoyed the story more if these high school kids didn't have to deal with a child predator butting into their relationship. Being a teenager is already rough enough without being taken advantage of by an authority figure you are forced to spend time with every day, especially when that behavior is excused by practically everyone around you. against his protests on two occasions. The Seme has to bust in and rescue the Uke from being raped by another gay dude. At least there's no forced sex in this movie. I don't know what the top review is talking about.

It starts as rather peculiar, and the animation can seem very unusual at first, but the story ads up to it. The characters and their interactions are more than enough to give the overall movie a 9/10 or even a 10/10. Overall, Doukyuusei is sweet and pretty, but painfully shallow. It's nice if all you're looking for is some blushy faces and cute kisses, but it pretty much fails as a depiction of a relationship. As for the plot, I found it to be a bit cliche at times but I enjoy the slowness of it all. Of course, it could have been slower. The main characters fall "in love" very easily however I think many teens do that as well. There were some events that could have been easily taken out, such as certain scenes featuring a certain gay teacher (now where have I not seen that before?). There were a lot of issues left untouched by the mangaka which I wish she could have resolved. The ending was very open ended and didn't exactly tie everything together. It was too abrupt for my taste. Akane Shinsha Book List" (PDF). Akane Shinsha (in Japanese). May 2014. Archived from the original (PDF) on May 2, 2014 . He is aloof. He is nervous. He is facing his fears. He is hardworking. He is cute ☺️

Overall the side characters were literally undefined by the art style and kept out of the way and to a minimum, other than Hara-sen a teacher who was involved in some drama. I would say that was the correct option. To give the two non-original character types as much time as possible for fleshing out and character exploration was definately a bigger plus than giving some side characters a bit of time. Loved returning to this! I hope I'll be able to get copies of the rest of the volumes too! (28 Nov 2021)

Classmates Vol. 3: Sotsu gyo sei (Spring)". Seven Seas Entertainment . Retrieved February 19, 2020. It's the story of two boys Rihito Sajou, an honor student, and Hikaru Kusakabe, a guitarist and a very much popular guy (damn, I love him with all his long blond hair being the weirdo he is!). What are the personalities of the characters? Why do they like each other? What is the point of the story? Such questions are left unanswered. It’s just two completely unrelated boys that both meet and kiss within the

Santilli, Morgana (August 12, 2019). "REVIEW: When CLASSMATES fall in love". Comics Beat . Retrieved February 19, 2020. It was very well put together, considering it was only 60 minutes in length (approximately 3 episodes) minus credits at the end. It was not the most amazing thing ever, butis definately quality for this genre. I would recommend to anyone who likes boys love (aka shounen ai, not yaoi) or romance. Hopefully knowing that the twobecome a couple is not a spolier because it happens within the first 1/4 of the movie. The series is noted as a departure from Nakamura's earlier and subsequent works, such as Double Mints [ ja] and Kaori no Keishou, which typically focus on darker themes and erotic subject material. [7] [9] Nakamura has stated that she had created "aesthetically pleasing works" with "soft images" prior to the publication of Classmates, but did not have the opportunity to publish them. [7] In Classmates, Nakamura stated that she wished to balance the exaggerated romance elements typical of BL with elements of realism, particularly in regards to LGBT issues and identity. [7]Was so hyped for this. Let me tell you it doesn't do the original justice. I highly recommend just watching the original OVA, it's a classic. A nod to the original would have been nice at least. I only wrote this review just in case because I wouldn't like to see the name of this title get a bad reputation. If you're just watching this randomly and know nothing about the VN or 90s version then it won't matter or if you're just watching it for other reasons...

I quite liked some works by Nakamura Asumiko. This isn’t one of them. It’s just another of many examples of BL genre setting the expectations so low, any not completely awful story seems like a masterpiece in comparison. Classmates Vol. 2: Sotsu gyo sei (Winter)". Seven Seas Entertainment . Retrieved February 19, 2020. Perfect description. I thought it was very sweet and tender. I like the art, especially how Kusakabe was drawn. He's my favourite character too, he's just so eager, open and awesome, compared to shy little Sajou. Ressler, Karen (March 9, 2016). "Aniplex Confirms Doukyusei -Classmates- Boys-Love Film's US Theatrical Release". Anime News Network . Retrieved February 19, 2020.He is wild. He is funny. He plays guitar. He sings. He understands. He is dramatic. He is romantic ☺️ Both depict male/male relationships with a focusing On the development of the romance in a school setting. Both feature characters with genuine admiration for one another learning to navigate the obstacles of dating with a light hearted, slice of life-esque tone. Overall: If you're looking for a hardcore yaoi movie then you'll be disappointed because this movie is very romantic and REAL. You can easily feel the characters and understand their actions because they're very relatable. Doukyusei: Classmates was positively received by critics, many of whom offered extensive praise for the film's production and animation. Jacob Chapman of Anime News Network called the film "meticulous, careful, and almost painfully sensitive in its matchless character animation", and described the story "heartwarming and fulfilling, even if its substance isn't one drop as unique as the movie's style." [60] In his review for the Los Angeles Times, Charles Solomon called the plot "rather standard", but offered praise for film's watercolor-style animation. [61] Cody Perez of Fandom Post called the film a "bold attempt to bring over a rather niche anime genre to theaters across the US", noting that the "beautiful animation and believable romance help to overlook the very fast pacing and inconsistent tone."
