About this deal

I'm watching re-runs so there are many I have yet to see but I've found every episode that I have seen amusing.

If you bought the individual series and watched them out of sequence, you are likely to end up confused and disappointed. Whether you're looking for a specific series/season, or a complete DVD box set collection, then we can do the hard work for you! After the departure of Nick, more prominence was given to Abi and Roger's love life, Michael's misadventures, Janey's endless list of boyfriends, and Alfie's dream of musical stardom. Dentist Ben and his wife Susan, a tour guide who later works for an art gallery, have three children: Nick, Janey, and Michael, who endanger their lives. Their kids - Janie, entering that diabolical phase of late-teenage; Nick, full of unworkable plans and irritating good-humour; and Michael, at the manipulative, know-it-all age - don't mince their words either. Meanwhile at work, Susan learns how to deal with a young lecher, and then decides it’s time to ‘Cavitox’!

My Family was consciously designed to have wide appeal, featuring characters with whom viewers could build relationships similar to the earlier BBC sitcom 2point4 Children which was also concentrated around a family unit. The talented cast, including Robert Lindsay, Zoe Wanamaker, and Kris Marshall, brings the characters to life with their comedic timing and sparkling chemistry. Season 11 episodes are: 'Labour Pains', 'Accusin' Susan', 'Germs of Endearment', 'Relationship Happens', 'Booked', 'A Decent Proposal', 'Darts All, Folks', 'Susan for a Bruisin'' and 'A Night Out'.

This BBC comedy series follows loopy dentist Ben (Robert Lindsay) and his gastronomy-challenged wife, Susan (Zoδ Wanamaker), as they raise three very different children--devoted loafer Nick (Kris Marshall), drama queen Janey (Daniela Denby-Ashe), and resident oddball Michael (Gabriel Thomson)--with loving distaste and mordant wit.

She first appeared in series two, played by Avril Elgar and credited as "Rebecca" (although she was not referred to by name in the episode). Season 8 episodes are: 'The Parent Trap', 'Let's Not Be Heisty', 'Cards On the Table', 'The Wax Job', 'Neighbour Wars', 'Can't Get No Satisfaction', 'The Abi Habit' and the Christmas special 'Have an Unhappy Christmas'. Nick is a regular character until the 2003 Christmas special, and makes one appearance in 2004's fifth series before making his final My Family appearance in the 2005 Comic Relief short as actor Kris Marshall wanted to do other projects and avoid being type-cast. Susan is a control freak, but Ben prefers to leave the children to it and stay as uninvolved as possible.Susan's mother is credited as Rebecca in her first appearance (although her name is not mentioned on screen). Since I've mentioned it, I might add that under other circumstances, Gabriel Thomson could easily have played Harry himself. Each of the eleven series were released on DVD both individually and as a box set in the UK, minus the Christmas specials. The acting is superb, and if as one review states, the writing is like that of formulaic American sitcoms (which I hate) then at least it shows that it's the comedy that counts, and the BBC know how to make it funny.

In May 2009, the two stars revealed they were still unhappy with the writing quality, with Lindsay stating "There's some real dross (in the scripts) and we're aware of it". It reveals that Nick, Janey and Michael are next to Abi and Ben and Susan are with each other at the top left of the screen. Her place is taken by Alfie, who has been a regular since series six but never appeared in the titles until the ninth series. Janey (Daniela Denby-Ashe) is the fashion magazine-reading, self-admittedly shallow teenaged daughter. And as if all this wasn't bad enough for Ben, Nick continues to work on his next hair-brained scheme, whether that means starring as Jesus in the local nativity play or dressing up as a drag queen!
