About this deal

This is absolutely essential reading for teachers of PSHE - especially in secondary schools - but also think that it’s such an important book to pick up if you’ve left school and believe that your own sex and relationships education from school was lacking. Known for her stories on digital culture and religion, Sophia became one of the first UK journalists to pioneer the use of TikTok in newsgathering and storytelling, and in 2020 was named as a Voice of Change by the platform, who identified her as one of country's top 100 creators. When they left the house, the whiteboard was presumably wiped clean for one last time, and the shag list was never updated again. But what she didn’t know was that this lack of knowledge was about to turn her life upside down – as it does to countless people in the UK every year.

Quick turnaround – low production value/entry barriers – power to reach people who’ll find it empowering. To be honest, I'm not sure about this book: for someone who has never read this kind of book, there probably wouldn't be enough context, explanation or history surrounding some of the ideas that are presented; and for someone who is familiar with notions like 'virginity is a myth', a lot of the dissection and discussion feels quite. We also share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners. It means rethinking sex-education, challenging oppressive beliefs and finding new ways to talk about our sex (and sexless) lives. From Malik, an asexual who wants to be in a loving but sex-free relationship, to Blair, who cried the first time she held hands with a man because she believed she was 'cheating' on her future husband. It’s expose the lack of knowledge about LGBTQ+ relationships and suggests that we may be hindering young people rather than helping them. I know that they didn’t affect lots of the girls in the year, who sniggered, laughing her archaism off for what it was. There is the odd language that is different; in Swedish, virginity is dropped, as if you might be able to pick it back up again.

Ben, Hildon and their housemates had written the names of conquests on their fridge’s whiteboard, the nucleus of their daily life. We were responsible for keeping ourselves in check and not being too flirtatious or dressing even slightly immodestly because guys are more visual. Sophia is delighted with the reception of her book, saying, “It’s been a whirlwind spring and summer and I couldn’t be happier. But, Smith Galer takes a forward-looking approach and in her final line, states that future generations will know they have no 'virginity' to lose, because virginity is a social construct. It took me years to debunk a lot of the myths described in the book, but that was done through my own curiosity.
