About this deal

It’s Celaena healing from her past, from all the atrocities she’s witnessed, from believing shes worthless, from what she was forced to endure. I do love how SJM doesn’t have Celaena instantly recover from her grief, instead she works through it. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, and no underlining/highlighting of text or writing in the margins. She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, heir of two mighty bloodlines, protector of a once-glorious people, and Queen of Terrasen. Complete and unabridged, this character edition celebrates Rowan Whitethorn by highlighting his name in Terrasen Green ink.

And I didn’t feel particularly connected to any of the characters (I did love Celaena though) or invested in the story. I loved these little details that added so much depth to the story, as it built up the world beautifully. Delightfully compact with lightweight pages for easy travel this miniature volume of Heir of Fire is perfect for any book lovers coat pocket or purse. There were still some moments in which the story felt as though it was lagging, but it was to a much lesser degree than the last book.I like the relationships we see building and the new characters that are introduced, even when I don’t particularly like them. Celaena Sardothien has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak but at an unspeakable cost. It seems perfectly reasonable that they should fall in love in the near future, after truly knowing each other. Heir of Fire continues to improve the complex world SJM has crafted, we get to know our current characters better and there are surprises galore within it! It’s so realistic and portrays her struggles in such a way that you are stunned by the depth of what you have read.

To defeat them, Celaena must find the strength to fight her inner demons if she is to have any hope of battling the evil that is about to be unleashed. I had this terrible sensation that the series would be like every other young adult fantasy series out there. Both of them, broken and scarred people, finding happiness again by helping each other… And I’m glad that it’s not that insta-love rubbish, because nothing, nothing, puts me off more. Even though I know this review will end up rather lengthy, I fear I will forget to mention some things. This month, I started a reread of the series to prepare for the upcoming and highly anticipated release of Kingdom of Ash, the conclusion to Aelin’s (Celaena’s) story.
