Ellie doesn't want to as its just another move she can do without bit her mother insists as her father is going away to another job and she can’t look after her. Ellie discovers that she has switched bodies with Jolly the cat and has only one day to find Grandma’s lost ring otherwise she will remain a cat forever. So with a little bit of magic and some help from Jolly the cat, Grandma's going to make sure that Ellie changes her ways. When Amira's magical cat goes missing, she must embark on a perilous quest to save him, calm a mythical stormbird, and discover the truth about her past. A cautionary tale of brats, cats and a little bit of magic from much-loved and bestselling author Malorie Blackman, particularly suitable for struggling, reluctant or dyslexic readers aged 8+.

When she’s turned into a cat, we get to see Ellie for who she really is behind the sadness of missing her dad, while she’s given the chance to make some unusual new friends and ultimately find a place to belong. In a dyslexia-friendly format, this is a magical and gently comic tale of friendship and thinking of others. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do.The grandma does her best to make Ellie feel at home but Ellie's bad behaviour has her turn Ellie into a cat. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). Malorie Blackman, illustrated by Matt Robertson Ellie is not happy to be staying with her grandmother. She has been awarded numerous prizes for her work, including the Red House Children’s Book Award, and has also been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods.

Tom's scrapbooks are always fascinating, full of photographs, notes and snippets of history that inspire his books, and this one is no different! ISBN: 9781781128244 Author: Blackman, Malorie Publisher: Barrington Stoke Publication Date: 15th January 2019 Imprint: Barrington Stoke Cover: Paperback Dewey: 823.I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! As she starts to make friends with the other animals in the house, the mice and the spiders, Ellie starts to learn how to be a good friend. In 2005, Malorie was honoured with the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her distinguished contribution to the world of children's books. Now it’s her grandmother’s turn and Ellie is determined to be as rude and unhappy about the situation as a person can possibly be.

The result of this constant upheaval is Ellie can’t make friends, isolating her and makes her sad, lonely and depressed. A cautionary tale of brats, cats and a little bit of magic from much loved and best-selling author Malorie Blackman. She meets lots of imaginative animal characters (mice and spiders) who teach her how to be good friend towards others. Ellie is the rudest, most spoilt child her grandma has ever met and it’s time that she learnt a lesson! Ellie the Cat is no ordinary novel about a cat, it’s about friendship and understanding and had a nice twist in the tale.

Jolly the cat is seen as a very well behaved feline by grandma so she is very content at being changed into a girl. A cautionary tale of brats, cats and a little bit of magic from much loved and best-selling author Malorie Blackman, brought to life in a delightfully fun reading by actor Esme Sears. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you.

Her best-loved books include the highly acclaimed Noughts and Crosses sequence and Pig Heart Boy, which also became a major BBC TV series. The inter-generational relationship between Ellie and her Grandma develops into something quite heart-warming too. What readers will notice with Malorie's new novel is how she has written from two different perspectives. Ellie is horrified at being a cat but grandma tells her that the only way she can be turned back into a human is to find her lost wedding ring. Her unhappiness instead of being obvious to adults is seen as bad behaviour and is considered a "brat " rather than seeing the real problem she has. Ellie soon realises that a girl trapped in a cat’s body needs some help and that she must learn some manners and make some friends fast. Ellie doesn't take to her life as a cat but what she does find is Jolly isn't very well thought of by the other creatures in and around grandma’s house. I remember reviewing her earlier novel, Robot Girl knowing that Malorie would keep up creating the magic of her storytelling for all, whether it’s sci fi, fantasy, or the modern era.
