About this deal

There's a sharpness to it which makes it almost aquatic, which I find perfect for the warmer months. I had shied away from trying any ET perfume until this last week, and I am blown away by the quality! Trademarks, service marks, logos, brand names (including, without limitation, the individual names of products and retailers) are the property of their respective owners. I don't care for cantaloupe and that was my concern, but this is a fresh melon, tempered by the other notes, rhubarb, spices, florals, etc.

smells like I'm right there, slicing up those suckers with a pale, fragrant bouquet nearby, and oceanic air wafting through the window. I was expecting melon but not this kind of half dry melon peel with slight hint of dried lily of the valley.Apparently, all the perfumes she tried she didn't like, plus a lot of perfumes smelled alike to her and she ended up layering several perfumes to get one scent she would like. Several reviews have mentioned that they feel that something about this perfume reminds them of Calvin Klein's Escape. While ET was an early "celebrity" fragrance seller, I think that all the later use of celebs may have made us too dismissive of this line. On the first blast, all I could smell was lily-of-the-valley, but almost like it was sprayed on a shirt that has just a hint of second-hand smoke on it. When dry, I pick up on the scent of vetiver, another green theme note, some musk, sandalwood and amber.

This fresh floral scent combines lily of the valley wrapped in a bouquet of freesia, a floral heart of jasmine, ylang-ylang and spices and a finishing layer of seductive amber, sandalwood and musk. I guess it's a perfume that one only uses one spray of or walk through the mist after spraying it in the room. Fragrance Notes: a fresh cut floral bouquet of lily of the valley, rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and spice. But when the melon settles down it evolves to a creamy-floral and peachy scent with a little powder over it. It’s a floral aquatic woodsy fougère that just smells marvelous and lives out its ‘90s goodness in a classy manner without overwhelming anyone. This is so nineties, but people around me are too young to remember it, so it feels like something innovative. Diamonds and Sapphires is just doing its breezy and fresh floral-musk-calone-fougère thing without a headache factor.

There also used to exist a phenomenon of spraying a fragrance on and waiting about 20 minutes before deciding if it works on you, and Elizabeth Taylor fragrances are no exception.I was aware that Elizabeth Taylor had a Fragrant Jewels collection in the 90's but I never had the time to collect them all. I bought an inexpensive bottle of the EDP online and I am very pleased and impressed by Diamonds and Sapphires.

I don't feel that way about Diamonds and Sapphires but I do feel exactly the same about Diamonds and Emeralds. Liz’s other perfumes like emeralds and white diamonds are classics but unfortunately this one doesn’t agree with me.

Upon first smelling this - you MAY get that "Oh I've smelled this many times before" feeling-- nevertheless. It’s has the old school vibes going on which I love because I am sick and tired of all the new perfumes all smelling too similar. The rhubarb note, so shrill in newer scents, is not allowed to screech here and is heavily tempered by spices and another deeper darker lily that is unnamed in the notes listed here.
