About this deal

When their baby sister Annipeck is stolen by a strange man claiming to be a geography teacher, they have to journey to a strange desert world to rescue her, at the same time as through their own differences.

When their little sister is kidnapped, siblings K2 O'Hero and his twin sister Izzabird go on a rescue mission. Can the O'Hero and Smith siblings put aside their squabbling long enough to save their family and a planet? The book starts, and the imaginary curtains in my brain are drawn and I sit down and read for as long as I can. Ross Welford introduces Time Travelling with a Tortoise, the sequel to Time Travelling with a Hamster, and a whole new time travel adventure! Then they have two lesser main characters that are either, organised and protective or a kind and caring young girl. Ond heb yn wybod iddyn nhw, mae’r bydoedd ffantasi y mae K2 yn tynnu eu llun yn bodoli, ac mae un ohonyn nhw’n fyd gwahanol dychrynllyd lle mae bodau dynol wedi cael eu hela i farwolaeth. With a terrible beast and a petrifying robot assassin in their way, they must learn to work together quickly - because the future of their family is at stake . This is my first read of Cressida Cowell's books and I can say the writing style so different from the usual book I've read. But that becomes a bit tricky to do when there are animated toothbrushes, flying Hoovers and, most noticeable of all all, A GIANT ROBOT ASSASSIN!

And if she finds the long-lost Forever Fern before the twins, both Jungledrop and our world will crumble. There's a lot of emotional depth in there, and I'm sure there'll be many children out there like Izzy, planning on getting rid of a stepfather and stepbrother, or like Mable, who secretly like their new family but have to hide it from an older brother who doesn't, or like Annipeck who is part of both sides of this new family. Worlds with six hundred moons, burning rivers and dark, twisty jungles alive with plants that hunt by the smell of fear. A joyously anarchic story which addresses the theme of childhood loss with real psychological acuity.

When their baby sister Annipeck is kidnapped, the warring stepsiblings will have to use K2's gift to find a crossing point into one of those worlds and embark on a daring rescue mission. So I am happy to give it five stars and I highly recommend it as an imaginative, escapist, rollicking adventure not to be missed. He can draw maps of fantastical other worlds and using this power, the siblings can look for their sister. These doorways are opened by drawings of maps, as long as they are done by someone with the right magical gift. I found the mixture of magic and technology intriguing and enjoyed the underlying theme of how important family is.

Two families coming together as one can be tricky at the best of times, add in a great dollop of magical ability, a portal to infinite worlds and the most deadly bounty hunters in the galaxy after you, then it becomes very exciting indeed! Also the author of picture books, Cressida has won the Nestle Children's Book Prize 2006 and has been shortlisted for many others. Can Mafalda find a way through a seemingly dark future and still go to school, play football and look after her beloved cat? Izzabird and Theo are fighting because they do not like their combined family, but we never find out why beyond that Izzabird thinks the Smiths are boring and Theo things the O’Hero’s are witches. The disapproving parents, the tiny creature that speaks in a funny way and the older family member that hates one of the main characters. With the help of her family, and her friends, Mafalda needs to discover the things that will be important to her when her sight has failed. There is magic; the O’Heros have magical powers, as do some other characters, but there are also robots and explanations of wormholes and other dimensions, and some characters are a mixture of both.

One of the most eagerly awaited children's books of the year, this magical adventure is also one of the most spellbinding. There is a magical world with a beast and a robot assassin, trees and plants that aren’t completely how you would assume them to be, as well as a family with magic powers. On another note, the O’Hero family’s history plays a large role in the story and the world, so it was interesting to learn about that over the course of the book.Cressida Cowell's stories are my comfort reads, and 'Which Way to Anywhere' deserves its place in Cowell's iconic bibliography, as it soars just as high as 'How to Train Your Dragon' and enchants us just as much as 'The Wizards of Once'. The hallmark Cowellisms are present, with enough creativity to carve its own path in children's literature and make me excited to read more in this world. The first volume of a new series by author and illustrator of the How to Train Your Dragon series is an event. In addition to the whimsical elements, there are also more commonplace real life elements with K2 having dyslexia and amblyopia (lazy eye).
