Now that I’ve finished it, the first thing that popped up in my mind was well, that wasn’t what I expected. This book is so much more than 5 stars, it makes me question most of my 5 star ratings because it just MORE. I hope that when I begin to feel sorry for myself for things I cannot change I look on the Bright Side. From a certain scene which brought tears to my eyes, it was like the freaking floodgates opened and I COULDN’T STOP CRYING. I love reading and I have read a lot of books this year so far saying that no insults to anyone here but this has been my FAVOURITE Read of the year so far this book is a book of life and living, friendship LOVE all in one.

And that is all I can say about this book…if I say anymore it will give too much away and that would be a travesty. well that's Kate she takes life in her stride, she takes chances and she makes people smile she teaches the people around her how to LOVE freely.It's bo-ring with all the typical cheesy stuff, including the gay (best) friend, the slutty roommate, the new love interest and the badass friend who is nothing like her but they get along. No band that has only JUST released their debut CD gets a headlining tour and sells out shows in an hour. The girl bounces from encountering one "interesting" person to another to another to another til I think the count is close to 15(! HOWEVER in these small mundane daily tasks Katie is causing these small tremors in the lives of those she comes in contact with.

It’s a friendship that has known happiness, pain, tragedy and loss and a shared connection brought about by their love of music cements a bond which is unbreakable. Each chapter is a new day in the life of Kate Sedgwick, which had I liked her (more on that later), maybe I would have been more marginally more engaged. Instead of being uplifting, I found it so incredibly sad and after finishing it, it left me in such a depressed mood. We are elegant creatures capable of depth and empathy and heartbreak, who clutch Kindles and hurt and feel – especially at 3 AM. She’s positive, always looks at the bright side of things no matter how bad they get, and she is funny.Kate was a beautiful character inside and out, she was adorable, selfless, giving, trusting, infectious, you couldn’t help but smile and be happy in her company. Those are usually giveaways for a death or for a terminal illness, knowing this I was almost sure someone was going to end up not making it to the last page of the book.
