This is a good machine but the carafe spills water all over when filling the reservoir as it does not pour very well without the cover on and sometimes drips with the cover on no matter how tight you put it on. Simplicity, precision and affordability have always been important selling points for the Bonavita brand. We’ve produced well-extracted brews with as little as 8 ounces of water by closing the switch completely for a couple of minutes then releasing, mimicking a Clever dripper. We looked at the current SCA certified coffee makers and decided to get another Bonavita because we liked the simplicity and the small footprint.

What’s more, they followed the same marketing playbook Bonavita had championed — namely, getting industry certification and seeking out validation from respected industry veterans. It takes about six minutes to brew eight cups of coffee, and that includes the optional pre infusion time.Shower head design: When the hot water is poured over the ground coffee, it doesn't come from a single small hole in the middle but from multiple holes distributed like a shower head over the coffee. But the quality of the coffee didn’t measure up, and most people will probably prefer a thermal carafe over this machine’s all-glass one.

And though the machine lacks a preset one-cup function like the OXO Brew 8- or 12-Cup Coffee Makers, you can achieve similar results using the manual switch. The auto-brew function is the most important of those features: It lets you program the brewer to make coffee before you wake up. As with the other machines mentioned here, it’s also the same pour over style drip coffee maker and brews roughly the same amount of coffee.Well, it means that the star of my Bonavita 8 Cup Coffee Maker review passed a battery of rigorous testing by the Specialty Coffee Association. But its extra features (a watery single-cup setting and a milk-frothing wand) don’t add a lot of value, and it’s now available only with a glass carafe, which we don’t recommend.
