About this deal

Hill's central protagonist, Serrailler, is not someone I feel particularly invested in, he feels like someone whose character is markedly underwritten, and I am not sure I believe in his sudden awareness of his deeper feelings for Rachel, his sister Cat is far more interesting to me.

Chapter two went from 4 to 7, three covered two-thirds of pages 8 and 9, four was two and a third pages long.

Dark, page-turning, and rich in mood and character, Susan Hill’s A Change of Circumstance lands brilliantly as another gripping entry to the Serrailler canon, sure to enthrall fans and newcomers alike. For more crime associated with a cathedral city, you might like to try The Distant Dead by Lesley Thomson. The book ends without as much of a resolution as I expected and kept me hanging on for more – looking forward to the next already. He has a supportive family of highly educated adults and he is arsing around like a teenager unable to make up his mind. The play of her ghost story The Woman in Black is one of the longest running in the history of London's West End.

When you apply for Housing Benefit / Council Tax Reduction, you will sign a declaration which confirms that you will tell us of any change in your personal circumstances which may affect the payment of your claim. This is a somewhat uneven entry in what has become the Serrailler soap opera: some of the storylines have stultified, particularly the case with Cat and her family where tiny issues are given unwarrantable page space (Kieron's pulled ligament, the lost dog, Cat writing to the Health Secretary to complain about a single patient's treatment on a local hospital ward).

The charm of these books, as well as the dread perhaps, is that we get a deep look at Simon and his complex, sometimes irritating, personality. The drug dealing story line is vivid and scary; grief in the wake of divorce and suicide is sensitively and powerfully portrayed; parental concerns and struggles feel genuine (as far as I know - this deliberately child-free reader remains grateful for her wise decision decades ago. You must tell us about any changes to your circumstances that may affect your Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction.

There's even an Olivia to help get any non-literary heathens up to speed on where they could track down the OG version. The representation of the working classes and of non-white characters has always struck me as a little cliched and one-dimensional at best.If you get into trouble because you did not report a change in your circumstances, it is very important to get expert advice as soon as you can. Susan Hill either reached her word count or got bored of the grubby county lines plot and decided not to tie up the loose ends. The way in which lonely and neglected youngsters can be singled out for attention, designer gifts, mobile phones and finally terrifying threats is convincingly portrayed. But when the body of a young drug addict is found in neighbouring Starly, the case pulls Simon into a whole new way of running drugs Vulnerable kids like Brookie and Olivia, who will give Simon a bitter taste of this new landscape. When you make a claim you will be told which changes must be reported and how long you have to report the change.
