About this deal

After years serving Batman as Robin, he is now fired from his duties and left to work out life away from his mentor. I'm completely sold on that alone, since it always bothered me that there hasn't been a great, enduring introduction of Todd into the Batman mythos. One or two guest appearances should not come as a surprise to most fans, but one certainly does stand-out as an interesting, and effective inclusion to the narrative.

I enjoyed seeing Nightwing without Batman as much, and it was a compelling view of their relationship and how it’s had ups and downs over the years. and this not only has Bruce dressing up as some goon but Alfred dressed up as Two Face and it was awesome! Year One begins with the expanded (and perhaps previously untold, I'm not sure) of Robin screwing up on a routine case and Batman firing him as a result.

Dick Grayson's truly captured in this book as the heroic hot shot charmer that he is, and you see the character begin to come into his own.

Jason comes off as every bit the twerp he was when folks voted with their telephones back in the 80's, but the pairing gives Dick a chance to be both outraged ousted party and cool big brother; by the end, we're as in awe of the newly minted Nightwing as Jason is. And Scott McDaniel’s art… was and is, absolutely kinetic, with sequences that often felt like they would leap off the page at you. While Robin: Year One and Batgirl: Year One felt like love letters to those characters, Nightwing: Year One takes it a step further; it feels like a love letter to Nightwing and Nightwing fans, alike. Scott also revamped the classic Charlton Comics character SON OF VULCAN for DC, co-engineered the epic JOKER'S LAST LAUGH crossover event, and wrote BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS for 17 issues. His unprecedented 100-issue run on DC Comics , Robin is considered to be a classic in the comics medium. So if you enjoyed the Titans show’s story of how Dick became Nightwing, I would recommend this story as a fine complement to further your appreciation of the character’s transformation. We see the origins of his solo career when there is a break up of the partnership between Bruce and Dick and how it happens after a mission with the Titans and them rescuing a kid, him venturing out on his own and meeting Superman and learning about the kryptonian superhero Nightwing and then following Dick to the Circus again and having strange encounters there and team up with Batgirl after donning his new avatar and finally teaming with the new Robin Jason and saving Alfred in a hilarious story and maybe getting his groove back again! My new fave thing lately is whenever Bruce decides to disguise himself (Bring back Bruce disguises 2k16. Dixon had a few notable artistic collaborators, but none who took to the character and setting with the vigor of Scott McDaniel.
