About this deal

If you are finding that your fire is going out quickly and your logs are burning fast then decrease the oxygen getting into the fire by closing the air vents. With the cost of living rising, you want to take full advantage of heat efficiency by getting the most heat from your wood burner – or open fire – as you possibly can.

If you want your fire to last then we’d recommend using ash wood burning logs because they can burn for up to 5 or 6 hours and also don’t produce much smoke. Heat logs are much easier to light than firewood – they burn more slowly and your fire will need less attention. In other situations, you should create a pit large enough for the fire and for moving around in the area, as well as perhaps a sleeping area directly in front of the fire. The production process is also key to creating top class briquettes as intense pressure is needed to form them.A common mistake when lighting a life in a wood burner is to just chuck everything in at the one time, light a match, close the door and watch it burn. Our Hobbit Logs come in two lengths – 20cm and 15cm so you can find the one that’s right for you and your log burner. There are a number of different types of briquette to choose from and to find the right one for you, it’s useful to think about what you want from your fuel.

Don’t close them over completely or you’ll smother it but adjusting them throughout the life of the fire will help it burn for longer. Natural Product: The wood for these eco briquettes is harvested from sustainable plantations and no chemical additives are used during processing. It's not pleasant to sit around a smoky fire, but inhaling too much smoke is also dangerous for your lungs and can damage your health, so it's important to minimise the smoke by using only hardwood logs in your log burner. They are sustainable; directly benefit cheetah conservation; and are one of the best Pini-Kay we’ve ever had. NOTE: Briquettes can expand - pay attention to this and don't open the stove door if you notice that briquettes may have expanded.

Most briquettes have less than 10% moisture, however the best quality briquettes have less than 5% moisture, making them a highly efficient form of fuel. Their higher calorific value and longer burn-time make them a more cost-effective option in the long run. They can take longer to catch fire, produce much more smoke, release less heat, and create an unpleasant smell! Well, it obviously depends on individual preference, however, there are a few products that stand out from the rest which we’ve listed below.

Managing the environmental impact of our products is important to us, so we are constantly working with our suppliers to improve the sustainability of their packaging by using cardboard in place of plastic wherever possible. They are ideal if you have a wood burning stove and are looking for an efficient and effective form of fuel. Once a fire is established and there is some heat in the base of the fire, it should be fuelled with hardwood to maintain a slow burning fire with a good heat output. Duraflame may take the crown for its renowned qualities, but either of the Pine Mountain logs are equally as good at creating the much-valued ambiance, making your home feel warm and cosy whatever the weather outside. For the cheapest way to build a mix of products (briquettes, bird food, compost etc), start with a Quarter or Half Pallet of your favourite briquette and add all the extras you need through our Add-ons Page.Efficiency: With less than 10% moisture content, they burn hotter and cleaner, meeting Clean Air Act standards. They do expand slightly, so place them carefully in the fire so they don’t expand onto the glass window or hearth.

Fire logs made from coffee grounds have, not only a clean burn, but a rich aroma – and emit 50-70% less carbon monoxide. Once your Fire Logs are burning nicely, you can adjust the air controls to optimize either for longer burn time (lower air intake settings) or high heat output (higher air intake settings). Hotmax 20kg is made in the UK from softwood fines (sawdust and bark) extracted whilst making dust free horse bedding. Look out for high quality wood briquettes that will allow you to break off smaller pieces without crumbling. Sustainable forests are managed to simulate natural patterns of disturbance and regeneration, so carefully selected trees are removed for firewood to create temporary gaps in the canopy that benefit the forest wildlife. In the same way as you would with a log fire, you would use smaller pieces of briquette as kindling to encourage the flame, adding larger pieces once the fire begins to establish. Place your dry pieces of wood on top of the kindling in a tee-pee formation, so that air can travel in between the pieces. One of the reasons Love Logs as founded was that we struggled to find a local, reliable, good-quality firewood supplier and when we thought we had, it turned out they were selling wood imported from Lithuania!
