If you are finding that your fire is going out quickly and your logs are burning fast then decrease the oxygen getting into the fire by closing the air vents. With the cost of living rising, you want to take full advantage of heat efficiency by getting the most heat from your wood burner – or open fire – as you possibly can.
If you want your fire to last then we’d recommend using ash wood burning logs because they can burn for up to 5 or 6 hours and also don’t produce much smoke. Heat logs are much easier to light than firewood – they burn more slowly and your fire will need less attention. In other situations, you should create a pit large enough for the fire and for moving around in the area, as well as perhaps a sleeping area directly in front of the fire. The production process is also key to creating top class briquettes as intense pressure is needed to form them.A common mistake when lighting a life in a wood burner is to just chuck everything in at the one time, light a match, close the door and watch it burn. They are ideal if you have a wood burning stove and are looking for an efficient and effective form of fuel. Once a fire is established and there is some heat in the base of the fire, it should be fuelled with hardwood to maintain a slow burning fire with a good heat output. Fire logs made from coffee grounds have, not only a clean burn, but a rich aroma – and emit 50-70% less carbon monoxide. Once your Fire Logs are burning nicely, you can adjust the air controls to optimize either for longer burn time (lower air intake settings) or high heat output (higher air intake settings).
