About this deal

How fianchettoing kingside actually makes the king safer, despite requiring the g-pawn to be pushed. For those who didn't grow up in the era of descriptive notation, Irving Chernev wrote books that mostly appealed to the mainstream player. I had heard of games leaving impressions on people before, but after playing chess more than 40 years, it had never happened to me. Just by repeating the basic principles one already memorizes and adapts them easily and I caught myself looking at a position on the chess board in a different way. Finally, why oh why are the Chapter headers for each game the site where the game was played rather than the players?

and other times he's like "obviously, moving the pawn in front of castled king is right thing to do, always create opportunities" blah blah. I found the print in this reprint to be a little light for my taste, and the diagrams a bit too small. A ideia é genial: "veja aqui os movimentos e A LÓGICA POR TRÁS DOS MOVIMENTOS de partidas que selecionamos".Describing every move is a great idea in principle, but it does get a little wearisome having to read about 1. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Experiencing openings and positions in the heat of battle is far more illustrative in play than theory. Part one is mostly 1e4 openings with a kingside attack where white dominates after forcing black to move a kingside pawn. This all being said, I wouldn't recommend this book to beginners really - I think it could be nice for people trying to learn more games and learn about the masters though.

Highly recommended to any enthusiast who wants to build a platform to be more than just a hobby player. The games are simple to follow, and combinations easy to visualize -- as opposed to more advanced and subtle games better suited to more experienced players.Of course you will find a lot of inaccuracies when using an engine, but this are instructive in the sense you can check what a very strong player missed in his analysis.

Chernev thoughtfully explains the decision-making process and contextual meaning behind each move as it’s made. A couple of years ago, I picked up the Batsford edition and it has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust.As the subtitle says, the explanation really is move by move, meaning each move is followed by a solid paragraph of explanation and thought. The author has a delightful writing style, and the book really built my ability and appreciation for chess.
