About this deal

Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going into the sun and reapply every 2 hours to ensure ongoing protection. However, after 2 weeks in the bottle, our son’s sunscreen hasn’t leaked and I also discovered it is an alcohol-free paediatric sunscreen.

Keeping them still for long enough to get it on them, wrestling the bottle out of their hands because they're insisting on doing it themselves, yet succeeding only in coating their clothes, AND the whole dilemma of how they're going to stay topped up on the SPF front when at school. After an impressive pitch, Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones both decided to invest in the product – with Laura and Deborah bonding over their shared love of numbers. The product, created by Welsh mums Kelli and Laura, recently gained a huge new audience when it was successfully pitched in the Dragons’ Den.

What I will say is I unknowingly went against the grain and did what the Solar Buddies recommendations say not to do. They launched the product after discussing the ‘no-touch policy’ in place at schools and created a product that allows teachers to apply sun cream to children in a safe and convenient way. As mummy to a very pale Ginger, I’ve always worried about him being able to apply Suncream himself at school. So when I found out about the Solar Buddies applicators which mean my older children can apply their sun lotion themselves; we literally became the talk of the school playground! You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Please tick if you would like to receive news, offers and information from our trusted and carefully selected partners that we think you might like. When sunscreens get hot they become thinner than their original state, this means sprays and oils can become almost water like and this can sometimes result in leaking from the roller ball. Do not use with Ambre Solaire or P20 applications as the ingredients in these products may affect the Applicator. Where babies and children are concerned, the official advice from the NHS is to 'take extra care' and always use suncream that is at LEAST factor 30. It’s really easy, and there is even a place for labelling in case you have more than one and don’t want to get them mixed up.
