Definitely going to make sure I always have this on hand as it's a great (and inexpensive) option for every day drinking. Your traditional Speyside flavours are released as you open the bottle with a slightly floral, mineral-inspired malted aroma, with citrus honey and orchard fruit notes. This reminded me of a previous visit I’d had at the Bushmills distillery, where my olfactory senses were incredibly overwhelmed in a way I’d never imagined.

Vividly neon green with a bouquet of aromas incorporating mint, lemon blame, aniseed and of course wormwood, Grande Absente Original is made to a pre-ban absinthe recipe the flavour builds as you enjoy each sip. Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey is a blend of our own triple distilled malt whiskey and a lighter grain whiskey and has picked up 36 awards this year alone.

When I taste the liquid now in their newer bottle label, I am no longer reminded of the very vivid experiences, but more about what could have been if they offered a better tour on their distillery grounds. Note: all designs may vary slightly where necessary, due to the shape and engraveable space on the chosen bottle. I'm not normally a big fan of Irish whiskey, I prefer Scotch single malt, which, from an Irish man is probably sacrilege but this would be as close to a Scotch as you will get. This is a piece I’ve been wanting to do for a while as it’s been nearly 6 years since I last reviewed Black Bush.A place where family and friends have worked for generations in a small Northern Irish village that for over 400 years has kept to the philosophy that hand crafting small batches is the way to produce beautifully smooth tasting Irish whiskey.

Noticeably sweet as soon as it hits the palate, you will enjoy the bite of lemon and lime and hints of orange all tantalising the tongue. Before you go on to the ‘ah here we go with another the older whiskey was way better than the whiskey we get today trope’, I also had a sample of the Special Old Liqueur (1970s) which was the forerunner to Black Bush and sadly it tasted of soap.
