About this deal

Weird is that you can set MENU > Camera > Auto distortion control > ON, but it doesn't do anything with manual focus lenses. The new adapter offers no additional functionality compared to the original, and if you're planning on rocking a Z5, Z6 or Z7-series camera for a while, there's probably no reason to upgrade. The FTZ II is simpler and smaller, which some photographers will inherently prefer, and for Z9 owners in particular, it's a much better option.

AI‑P lenses are probably the best lenses next to AF‑S and AF‑P to use with the FTZ as they don't lose any features and work even better on mirrorless than they ever did on film. Some older bodies requiring firmware updates for newer lenses -- showing how much Nikon cares about compatibility and user experience. Anything that isn’t as you would expect, we then make a note of and show this in the condition notes on the page.EF-S was a convenient way to get wide angle lenses closer to the sensor (smaller mirror box allows for the glass to protrude into the body more) for better image quality and some size reductions. Full AF/AE supported when using FX or DX AF-S Type G/D/E, AF-P type G/E, AF-I type D and AF-S / AF-I Teleconverters. On a Z camera with the Mount Adapter FTZ, compatible F-Mount NIKKOR lenses retain all of their sharpness and superb rendering power. You get full EXIF communication and exposure control, but no electronic manual focus aids or distortion correction.

It would have been great had Nikon added the additional settings ring of the Z lenses - and probably very little effort compared to the focus motor to use AF-D lenses. Nikon reserves the right to change the appearance, specifications, and performance of this product at any time and without prior notice. Nikon designed their electronic lens mount with enough variations so that not all electronic DSLR bodies can use all their electronic lenses, including the new Z bodies. Nikkor Z didn't have an equivalent model at the time and in any case, would have been too expensive. The Nikon FTZ and FTZ II are lens mount adapters that let us use any F-Mount Nikon SLR or DSLR lens with varying extents of usefulness on Nikon's full-frame mirrorless cameras.

SLR auto focus didn't come about until the late 80s early 90s - Nikon was the first company to introduced Auto Focus with their F3AF. Then again, use this adapter on mirrorless and you can shoot silently with VR and much better see the limited depth-of-field with lenses shot wider than f/2. All VR lenses are either traditional screw-type AF or AF-S, in which column you'll see how the other features work.
