The system performs at its maximum advertised frequency during the test, and I don’t any obvious bottleneck shere. Especially, since I’m running my own K3S cluster with 1x Jetson nano as the master and 3x RPi-8GB nodes, the NanoPi-R5S really rings a bell to me that it would be a great K3S node.

So I understand the 2-pin connector is just for the battery, and HYM8563TS is on-board already, but this would have to be confirmed. I tried that and generally had problems with picking right IP addresses for the ethX interfaces: I needed to specify either a static one or a DHCP and neither of those makes sense or is necessary for bridging AFAIU (the bridge interface it’s the only one that should have an IP address). Obviously if there’s something odd going on with the hardware it’s running on, you’re going to get poor results. I’m able to make connections to and from the DietPi host, but the traffic switching part doesn’t seem to be working: From a laptop connected over a wire to the NanoPi, I’m able to ssh into DietPi, but I’m not able to reach either my network router, nor the public internet. Switching from vendor to mainline u-boot often caused performance regressions (CPU cores and/or RAM clocked way lower).to go into the graphical desktop – works perfectly but SLOWLY and I have one remaining issue – after a while the graphical screen times out – and asks for username and password – user is pi but it will not accept the default password – I need to stop that happening. Major downside: you need a lot of patience since after adjusting settings it requires a long(er) time span for the new averaged consumption value to settle. I honestly don’t know here though, but if this is the performance they can offer, then this is not worth being used as a network appliance.
