About this deal

By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file. The best parts of the autobiography, therefore, are the parts where he talks about feeling weird, different, like a fuck-up, but also when these are juxtaposed with the normal facts of life like getting a job, having sexual or romantic troubles (and successes), not getting on with your flatmate, and trying not to become destitute. I've been a fan of Limmy for many years, and am surprised it took me so long to read any of his books. It’s a lot more interesting in a serious way than it is funny, with sizeable chunks containing no intended humour. I like stuff that isn’t particularly funny, too, just observations we drag out, or making stupid faces and then being serious again.

Voicing things out loud that other people keep bottled up is extremely humbling and thought-provoking.Regularly spotted riding his bike around Glasgow, he is happy with his lot and that includes the decision to leave his old Limmy’s Show characters hanging in the wardrobe department. It ends with him confessing that his relationship with his long-time girlfriend Lynn (who designed the book cover) has been on the rocks lately and that he may or may not be about to get diagnosed with ADHD. I found myself reminiscing on my own childhood and adolescence at many points, and laughing heartily at many others.

In 2001, he co-founded the company Chunk Ideas, selling his stake in the company to co-founder Donnie Kerrigan in 2006, so he could concentrate on his comedy career. I relate to a lot of the shit he says and thinks in a way I don’t with any other comedian, there’s something kinda unique about his style that is far more memorable and engaging somehow. It’s all told in an organic, uber-chatty way – ‘Anyway, what happened was this’ – as though it’s a transcribed audio-book. It’s scary with Daniel growing up because when I was 13 or 14, if everyone had a video camera in their pockets, most people would be fucked,” he says.I’ve got myself into a life where I don’t really need to do anything, I don’t need to go out of my house,” admitted Limmy. Compared to other inner city areas of the post-war era, it had none of the notoriety associated with nearby Castlemilk.
