El Rayo takes its name from Mexican folklore, with tells of the great bolt of lightning – El Rayo –striking the blue agave in the hills near Tequila. Rested in ex-whisky casks for 7 months, it has a golden caramel colour and a rich, nutty complexity. El Rayo translates to 'the lightning', and the name is an homage to the legend that lightning struck a Blue Weber agave plant, cooking it and creating the first Tequila. It takes eights years to grow our blue agave and for mother nature to do all her flavouring in the ground.
