About this deal

We get representation of two male leads, one identifying as gay, the other bisexual, but they don’t really delve into how that changes them. Like the book tried to really dissect some topics that were pretty heavy for the characters, and just didn’t do it all that well. Plus all the things I loved most about it were skimmed over more than I'd like, mostly Levi and his siblings and Georgie actually figuring out what she wants. All in all, this read like a shallow “dramedy” rather than the romantic comedy I expected but this novel failed to realise its potential. As the two make their way through her wishlist, Georgie begins to realize that what she truly wants might not be in the pages of her diary after all, but right by her side—if only they can both find a way to let go of the pasts that hold them back.

I highlighted a few passages of Levi’s thoughts about Georgie and I also cried as life throws them a few hurdles. There's so much tension, and so much work done in trusting each other and confronting each other's demons and learning to move forward. Now that she’s in her late twenties and feeling directionless, Georgie decides to use this diary as a guide to figuring out what she truly wants for her life. He, too, has come a long way: From local troublemaker to local dock builder, Levi rose to many occasions - just not confronting his toxic father and, thus, he’s also estranged from his siblings for no good reason at all.It really is a deliciously innocent lgbtqia contemporary, more suitable for the younger end of the YA demographic.

Here before me is a brand, spanking new collection of journalism by the wonderful Marian Keyes – but it's a proof copy, so there's no photo of the author. After writing a small horde's worth of short stories, he released his debut dark fantasy trilogy "The Ties that Bind" in 2013 as an indie publication and followed it up with the steampunk caper "It Takes a Thief to Catch a Sunrise" in 2014. They were so easy-going, supportive, and accepting and always there for her, it was so comforting and wonderful🥹 (You can go home now, Pinterest mamas.

I think, to me, one of the strengths of the genre is that it does create safe space in which vulnerability can (and should? Georgie is impulsive, flighty, flexible, funny, a great organizer of others’ time and things, and she’s confused about her future.
