About this deal

The adjustment dial and fore/aft adjustment tabs in the back of the helmet are easily usable and are nearly identical in design to the dial and tabs in Giro's Roc Loc Air fit system that comes on their top of the line helmets. Unfortunately, as with other cycle helmets with this kind of chin-strap, you need to give them a scrub as often as possible as they can tend to get a bit smelly with the build up of sweat. The micro-adjust dial works as a ratchet system and draws the restraint system in, allowing you to have a secure and near perfect fit. As mentioned at the top of this review, the Giro Foray is a very reasonable weight, not only for a helmet in this pricing bracket but for a cycling helmet full stop.

You will be covered for the first 10 days of ownership against theft and accidental damage, so you can purchase with confidence. While this helmet doesn't include any fancy extras like built-in visors, rubber sunglass slots, or fancy shell materials, it looks and performs well for just a fraction of the cost. My grandfather’s big nose, for example, skipped a generation and made my own face its next home, sparing my mother a lifetime of ‘keep your big nose out of it’ jibes. But in the Giro Foray helmet, they have managed to produce a performance level cycle helmet with a number features you would expect to find on something much more expensive. Please note in some cases the item will need to be signed for, so please provide an address where someone will be in. Giro's chinstrap Y-buckles can easily be adjusted to be either lower down by the chin or higher up by the ears. For those not familiar with the Roc Loc 5 system, it provides a lightweight, 'easy to adjust' support skeleton around the back of the head.

When we send out a larger parcel such as a bike or trailer we use a tracked courier such as TNT's next-day service. Wind Tunnel Ventilation - Giro helmets are developed utilising their proprietary Wind Tunnel™ ventilation system, which combines active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the riders head while forcing heat and stale air out.The Giro Foray Mips helmet, on the other hand, could – at a glance – be mistaken for its much more expensive predecessor – the Synthe.

This whole wind-tunnel tested, air flow system works well but it is let down by the helmet's internal foam padding.Every model that scored better than the Foray MIPS in the ventilation ratings were also more expensive. From your local crag to the summit of Everest, at Tiso, you’ll find the climbing and mountaineering equipment you need. Our testers find the Foray MIPS to be a comfortable helmet with adequate padding and easy adjustability for an optimum fit. It feels the business, it largely looks the business, and it packs the same safety features as the more expensive helmet. If your budget can’t stretch higher up the product range for a Synthe, opting for the Foray is by no means settling for second best.

We guarantee to replace or refund faulty products covered by manufacturers warranty subject to inspection of goods and manufacturers approval.

With a well-ventilated design, easy adjustability for a comfortable fit, and also one of the lowest weights in our lineup, the Foray MIPS makes an intriguing option for most riders. Base in Santa Cruz, California - the company has built a reputation as one of the leading manufactures in the innovation of cycle helmet technology, as they have proven with their highly rated Giro Synthe helmet which they launched mid 2014.
