Color me surprised as Bullet Train, while not perfect, it is still a perfectly fun ride that is filled with colorful characters with them all having their moment to shine. Flashback sequences go from a warm orange-tinted look to a remarkable and blue-ish streak depending on the season.

The color palette for this action thriller is a rich rainbow full of colors that never stops dazzling the senses. On a smaller screen it’s probably not noticeable, but it did jump out at me when it happened (watching on a 77” LG CX OLED). The score and song cues are pitch-perfect that keep the film centered in its fun and entertaining atmosphere. Not to mention the clever use of flash backs, bloody fights and general style being the substance level of winking at the camera that we get to enjoy. Documentaries: 'Trained Professionals: The Cast'; 'All Aboard the Pain Train: Stunts'; 'Catch What You Missed: Easter Eggs'. Reading the synopsis, I understand why some can draw a straight line between this film, and Smokin’ Aces (a crazy film that I really like)- several factions of people are all after 1 thing. Pitt is believable as a violent assassin when he needs to be and quickly turns on the comedic gears every chance he gets.

The Blu-ray tended to look a bit muted and soft in comparison, but the blacks, the white hair of Lemon, or the neon infused outfit for Hornet literally almost blind you. There are explosions, nearfield pans, and weapon fire that rotate around the soundstage, shifting overhead, passing by at ear level and coming at the listening position. Nearfield sound placement in the bed channels is noteworthy, providing an involving listening experience that emboldens the "being there" effect when applied. Anyway, I also discovered that David Leitch also co-directed the first John Wick film with Chad Stahelski.
