I will never forget that Amelia wore pants - brown ones - because the author said so more times than I was willing to count. Last Flight is a book published in 1937 consisting of diary entries and other notes compiled by aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart during her failed attempt that year at flying solo across the Pacific Ocean. She was also often the practical and responsible anchor in the strained family home, sacrificing many of her own opportunities to take care of her mother and sister. If we begin to think and respond as capable human beings able to deal with, and even enjoy, the challenges of life, then we surely will have something more to contribute to marriage than our bodies. Meet Ella Fitzgerald, First Lady of Song who once said, "It's not where you come from, but where you're going that counts. Flying a red Lockheed Vega 5B, she left Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, Canada, and landed about 15 hours later near Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Now, good friend and lover Gene used the Bureau of Air Commerce resources to Americanize the "Line Islands" south and west of Hawaii, named Jarvis, Baker and Howland.

Butler's personal interviews included Anne Lindbergh, who, with her husband Charles, were personal friends of Amelia and her husband George Putnam, and Amelia's sister Muriel Earhart Morrissey, listed as living as of the publication date of this book. This book does a good job of painting a three-dimensional portrait of her individuality, rather than another stereotypical description of the myth that evolved following her disappearance.Everything goes well until the first financial crisis jars the man's confidence and threatens the woman's security. Amelia Earhart captured the hearts of the nation after becoming the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1928. After reading this incredible book by Susan Butler i have a great appreciation for Amelia Earhart and all that she did for aviation and women during her time.Living around Los Angeles, and being involved in aviation, even as a beginner, at that time allowed her to become acquainted with some of the early fliers and businessmen who would become well known in the future aviation industry. She does a great job of placing the reader right into the timeframe with Amelia throughout the story. Aunque el formato esta pensado para los niños menores de 5 años, el libro sigue gustando también a los niños más mayores!

Lavishly illustrated over-sized volume detailing with the life, career and disappearance of Amelia Earhart; issued for the 75th anniversary of her disappearance. Es un cuento muy bonito y bien ilustrado, me hubiera gustado un poco más que se centrarán en la vida de Amelia de pequeña ya que solo viene una sola página, pero las ilustraciones y el mensaje lo compensan.

The subject matter of this books was incredibly interesting and I feel like I learned a great deal about Amelia Earhart- especially considering that what I knew about her before was essentially what you can find in kids’ books. The most reasonable explanation, based on the known facts of her flight, is that they were unable to locate Howland Island, ran out of fuel, and ditched into the Pacific Ocean. In this great little biography, readers will find out how she tricked her father into letting her fly, how her expertise in publicity helped to pay her way and how she became a fashion icon. I would have given up if not for a strong interest in her disappearance - I was let down at the end.
