After Luz is resurrected and fights Belos with King and Eda, he, Willow, Gus, and Amity use glyphs drawn by Camila to save the puppets. Hunter then reveals his name to her, and defends her from Kikimora when she starts attacking them, allowing Luz to get away safely with the palismen.
After the Emperor's Coven and Adrian leave, he informs the students and staff of the Draining Spell. Hunter and Amity eventually come to a stalemate, but Amity is forced to hand the key over when Hunter threatens Luz's safety. Unbeknownst to them, a remnant of Belos follows Hunter to the Human Realm and ends up possessing him, nearly killing his friends and Flapjack in the process.The Golden Guard then offers a compromise to the two criminals; they either kill the beast, or he drowns King in the Boiling Sea. Four years after Belos is defeated, Hunter takes up palisman carving under the tutelage of Dell Clawthorne and the Bat Queen.

By the end of "Thanks to Them", Luz reveals to everyone that she did help the Collector and Hunter is the first to assure her that it wasn't her fault because Belos tricked her and if it wasn't for her, they wouldn't have a chance to fight back.While hiding from the Emperor's Coven in " Labyrinth Runners", Hunter gets rid of his tunic and dons the shirts of his sports uniform again, albeit tattered and dirty, alongside a dark blue cloak with red patches. However, Armor can also be repaired through 2 talents (Bloodiron Spirit and Thresher Scales), the Bloodiron Ring or with the Metal enchantment. Belos was the one who mentored Hunter, giving him a staff with artificial magic at some point in time.
