I know the XL1 was known for the same issue with some blown fuses, does the XL1s have the same problem? YouTube recompresses video to save on storage space, and that can degrade the quality of your videos. However, I just purchased a DVX100B, with has built in XLR, 24p, 3CCD, etc, and it does everything I need, PLUS it is a fair bit cheaper.

However, the main drawback to the DVX100, as far as I have read, you can't use manual focus when shooting in 24p.But old video wasn't good enough, even then, and to be honest, today's 1080 HD probably isn't quite there yet, either. Great for definition and first-class for transfer to film where the higher vertical resolution of each resulting film-frame really scores and, properly lit, results in a real film-look. Not sure if that was for the body only or also for the lens, also not sure if the thing was still working or only to be had as a museum piece/doorstopper. And in the meantime get an adapter so I can record onto memory cards and just not use tapes anymore. The DMXL1S is an excellent camera easy to use extremely functional design and very powerful it is worth the money if you just used it for sound never mind the picture and lens quality.

Canon elected to retain the previous XL1 body design, and this is highly beneficial to both end-users and third-party accessory manufacturers. Custom Keys and Presets -- Certain camera and VCR mode functions can be programmed into these two buttons for immediate access when desired. I haven't seen it, but the increase in image quality over the XL1 is said to be noticeable immediately.
