Two days after Hood sinking, two Coastal Command Catalina flying boats set off on a reconnaissance mission, sighting Bismarck. Specialising in 1/35 Military and Scaled Figures, Aircraft, Helicopters, Ships, Cars and Motorbikes. Being of 1970’s vintage, there may be a small amount of flash to clean up and a few minor sink marks. On May 27, 1941, Bismarck was heavily damaged after a final confrontation with British warships, including the battleships HMS King George V and HMS Rodney. Bismarck was the first of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany’s Kriegsmarine - German Navy of the 1935-1945 period. There are other 1:200 Bismarck kits on the market, and Amati themselves worked with Hachette a number of years ago on a 2007 partwork release of this ship. Bismarck was subsequently assaulted by sixteen Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers, and after several critical hits, the ship was scuttled so as to avoid it being boarded by the British.

The two ships were detected several times off Scandinavia, and British naval units were deployed to block their route. You will also find the part reference numbers on those sheets, as they are not engraved onto the timber as some manufacturers choose to do.
