About this deal

Our Book of the Month for Age 3+ is Amazing Me, Amazing You from autism ambassador Christine McGuinness. However, what excites me even more than the creative process is the opportunity for people all over the world, of all ages and all backgrounds to engage with and enjoy my illustrations.

Louise is a yoga teacher, counsellor and founder of ‘Douglas Yoga Centre’, ‘Yoga Connected’ and ‘Counselling Connected’. I might not like gritty sand or scratchy labels, busy places or messy tables, but with … a quiet walk … a gentle smile … and some time alone for a little while … I can be amazingly me – just like you. minute Explorer session webinars cover the approach, framework, SEMH implementation, impact measure tools and supporting resources. The words we choose to speak to one another have the power to harm or deepen our relationships with our loved ones.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).

Our programmes teach and embed transferable emotional literacy skills that are vital in both class and life. Then I learned that BOUNDARIES are in fact always loving and are created from a place of self-compassion and self-love. The perfect picture book celebrating all children – everyone is unique, and it’s that uniqueness that makes us all special!

Louise speaks openly and honestly of the journey that has brought her to where she is today, including some of her early experiences of anorexia (“denying my needs”) and bulimia (“trying to fill my endless needs”) and her later experience of hyper-ventilation syndrome which she believes was “stuck grief”. Recently diagnosed with autism along with her three children, Christine's message to parents and carers to help them talk with their children about neurodiversity is the perfect way to introduce the subject to any child.

I shared this with some Y3 children, and it opened up great discussions about how everyone is different and how that doesn't matter. In this first children’s book from autism ambassador, Christine McGuinness shows just how important it is to embrace diversity and inclusivity while highlighting just how much it means to accept one another, just as we are with all the uniqueness that makes us special. Learning to appreciate, affirm and celebrate who we are and our uniqueness is a powerful gift that every child needs and deserves. They also speak about their experiences of practising softening their relationship with themselves, while Emily shares how she has always found it easy to be strong and hard to be soft.In a separate box is the sock puppet kit, packed with items for seven people so the group facilitator can make a sock friend too! Whenever I practice listening whole-heartedly, which for me means listening without interrupting, without jumping in with advice, without judging, I always leave the conversation with a feeling of a deeper connection. Amazing Me, Amazing You is a lovely picture book, beautifully illustrated, that is great to share with children in primary school. Will you join me this week in practising LISTENING to UNDERSTAND and WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, as we continue to DEEPEN our CONNECTIONS with one another? I end up spending all my energy thinking of the person in disbelief or outrage or frustration, and I simply stay stuck.
