About this deal

This series will not only leave children entertained, but will also empower them to battle climate change and environmental issues.

And the fact that Amari couldn't catch a single break in this book definitely impacted my enjoyment because the story felt quite. I would also recommend that both the author and whoever is responsible for the publishing side work on keeping to a tight deadline for publication; for a series, no more than twelve (12) months should elapse before a series book is published. I’ve been waiting for the next instalment of Amari for over a year, and this was even better than I’d hoped for! once these characters all come together around that 80% mark, wonderful things happen, but the waiting period to get to an exciting part of the story is such a huge contrast to the incredible experience I had with the first novel in this series. The Great Game is both mysterious and deadly, but among the winner's magical rewards is Quinton's last hope .It was hard to put down this story with its fast-paced action, clever twists, and excellent writing. Although the author included some references to the events in the first book, he didn’t include enough of it.

With this being said, I am really looking forward to the 3rd-book, which I expect to be absolutely epic. I hope Harlowe goes to the Sightless Depths and get's her vocal chords permanently removed, and Dylan gets better. She's still dealing with the fallout of Dylan's betrayal and trying to figure out how to break the curse on Quinton. It would have been nice to see Alston using alternate descriptions rather than playing along with stereotypes. All the different departments of the bureau sound so perfect to me: everything makes sense even when it’s all SO magical.

I’m always nervous about picking up a sequel because they often don’t meet my expectation, but this was certainly not the case with AMARI AND THE GREAT GAME. And as I read, I remembered that Magnus wore a cowboy hat and was ‘western’ even though the author really didn’t remind us of who he was. Luckily Amari has Elsie, her weredragon best friend, and other allies who help her save the world again. But, with the fate of two worlds in their hands, will the twins be able to work together for once to defeat Morg and her dark magic?

She's an absolute forced to be reckoned with and I know at the end of the day, she's going to make me, and her family, proud! I don't know that I loved this quite as much as book 1, but it's still continuing to be a great series and I look forward to seeing what Amari does next. Amari, a Black girl with limited means, confronts privilege and prejudice even while delving into a world of wonder, humor, and adventure, making this a sure-to-please winner. From page one i was gripped with the mystery of the time freeze and wanted to follow along on the adventure with Amari and her friends. I love the cast of characters, and their development in this book, especially the relationships between Amari and Elsie/Lara/Jayden/Dylan - essentially Amari’s relationship with anyone.Praise for AMARI AND THE NIGHT BROTHERS: "Fast-paced adventure and cutthroat pre-adolescent contempt make for a delightfully challenging journey here, particularly considering the ways that Alston frames Amari's racial and economic experiences as a Black girl as the root of her strong-willed nature and spirit of integrity.
