About this deal

There are some comedians who are just not funny off stage. They hate people spotting them when out and about because they know they'll never live up to expectations. They can 'do' funny but they AREN'T funny - not in real life. Then there are those who can make anything funny, even the lamest joke - Tommy Cooper was one of the best examples. Karl Pilkington is another: he simply IS funny...and he's not even a comedian. It's genius questions, that you can't really answer. You'd expect a child to ask them, but Karl has a endearing quality because he sounds simple, and doesn't really quite get things. He's happy in his own little world. If you like your humour deadpan and stating the obvious, this is the book for you as a light read. Guaranteed to put you off your holiday if you’re dreaming of one! To get the full effect from this book, you will have to believe that Karl is speaking from the heart. He's not pretending - he's not saying things for comic effect. It's just his truthful, instant opinions on things, and that makes it funnier. They keep saying that sea levels are rising an' all this. It's nowt to do with the icebergs melting, it's because there's too many fish in it. Get rid of some of the fish and the water will drop. Simple. Basic science.”

karl pilkington is a national treasure. i cannot fathom what goes on in his mind and this book is one step closer to understanding. the things he comes up with is truly mind-boggling. a highly entertaining book!! In this book, Karl is aware that he is an amusing man but he is trying to recreate his spontaneous, natural statements in a concious way. Originally the humour resided in the fact that he was unaware how funny his opinions are - now he's aware of it and is deliberately doing it, some of the humour has inevitably been lost.

This book is the second from Karl Pilkington, and has a few similarities with the first. It contains many stories and anecdotes from the XFM shows/Podcasts, but it also contains a lot of unheard material and many original hand-drawn pictures from Karl.

Happyslapped by a Jellyfish: The Words of Karl Pilkington

Pilkington has worked independently of Gervais and Merchant on several projects. He appeared as a guest on the shows Flipside TV and The Culture Show, [12] and appeared in several short films as part of the Channel 4 project 3 Minute Wonders. [ citation needed] I think he’s amazing! Kept me laughing through 2 cancer surgeries and keeping me sane approaching chemo. Hilarious, honest, relevant, understandable, relatable Northern humour and language. Love this guy. Feels like you’re talking with a mate when you’re reading. He’s brilliant I think he’s amazing! Feels like you’re talking with a mate when you’re reading. He’s brilliant My two favourite things about this book were the captioned photos, and this quote about my country:I always have a problem liking things that I'm told I should like. This has been the problem with most of the Wonders I have seen so far. The fact that this one is called the 'Great' Wall of China annoys me. I'll decide if it's great or not. It might end up being the 'All Right Wall of China' to me.” It would also help if you'd heard Karl before, either on XFM or on the podcasts, as it really does add another dimension if you can hear Karl's whiny Manchester accent in your head while you're reading his words. Without this, the book could seem poorly written. I told her that I can't be doing with the Wonder part of these trips, but she said it should be the icing on the cake... I've never liked wedding cake due to the amount of icing, but then imagine a wedding cake without it; just a dark, stodgy, horrible dry sponge. The icing covers up the mess, and that's how I feel about most of the Wonders. They use them to get people to visit a place that you probably wouldn't think about visiting.”
