adults and are given a more well-rounded storyline. These characters have human flaws and dimensions – and the audience can relate to Often heralded as a zombie masterpiece and considered instrumental in popularizing the genre around the world, George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead is widely appreciated as one of the best and most influential horror films. Four decades later, the plot's themes on modernity and consumerism remain as poignant and relevant as ever, still offering plenty for viewers to chew on and discuss. Years ago, when the indies were still sceptical of the need for a 4K format, I made the point that if you were promoting a new 4K restoration, and consumers had 4K displays at home, then the logical conclusion is the disc-buying film fan asking, 'Well, why can't I buy it and watch it on 4K disc?' Killer Animatronics– Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy transform from cute and cuddly into creepy and killer through a combination of costumed performers and cutting-edge puppetry.

While I have my own misgivings about the remake of Dawn of the Dead, it at least tried to do something a little different and not be an exact copy of the original. As previously mentioned, the notion of fast-moving zombies has been more or less erased from the zombie lexicon, but there are certain visuals and sequences that hold up. Scream Factory’s UHD showcases those moments well. If you’re a fan of the film, this release comes very much recommended. One of the things that sets Dawn of the Dead apart from other horror films is the focus on the characters. The characters are Audio: DTS-HD Master Audio 1.0 Mono - New restoration of the original OCN Optical / DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Dawn of the Dead (1978) - 4K UHD Blu-ray Standard Edition Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Blu-ray Standard Edition Of course, and most obviously, this is represented by the swarm of zombies slowly amassing in the parking lot of the shopping mall, which also builds conjointly with Romero gradually intensifying the sense of dread and urgency before suddenly erupting into complete anarchy. However, I'm more fascinated by the four living survivors played by Ken Foree, Gaylen Ross, David Emge and Scott Reiniger. As the symbolic pillars of a secure, well-balanced democratic society, the pair of journalists and law officers essentially endure the impending apocalypse the only way they know — by finding physical comfort in material possessions, ultimately making them no different than the mindless dead swarming outside desiring to do the same.George A. Romero's classic low budget horror and sequel to 'Night of the Living Dead' where the dead now roam the entire American continent, feeding off the flesh of the living. TV reporter Francine (Gaylen Ross), her boyfriend Stephen (David Emge) and two SWAT team cops seek refuge in a deserted shopping mall. However, despite their best efforts their temporary haven is put in jeopardy when a gang of marauding bikers tear down the barricades thus allowing the undead to infiltrate the shopping mall. There's often plenty of detail here, but the crispness of the presentation varies. There are occasional shots where foreground elements appear soft, a by-product of Romero's extensive multi-angle shoot and all those zombies rolling about. Often, however, it's strking who fresh and detailed this 42-year-old film feels. Internet delivery doesn't have the bandwidth to produce a really high-quality result, especially for movies scanned from film, or anything VFX-heavy. A 4K disc format lets film lovers have quality Around two years ago, we at Fidelity in Motion were asked if we knew of any capable film scanning facilities in or around New York. We didn't know what the project was, just that there was a very rare opportunity to scan the original camera negative of a well-regarded film. Second Sight eventually reached out to Final Frame to undertake the scanning and restoration work. Obviously when we heard what it was, that was a tremendously exciting moment. Released: 22nd March 2021. George A. The color… so much color. Saturation is set to hyper mode, beginning with intense, glowing flesh tones right on the precipice of bleeding. Turns out, every hue is like that. Blues explode, and red blood looks absurdly overcranked. Dawn of the Dead is very much of the early color grading era, made to stand out on SDTVs.The decision to present that cut in SDR stems from the French distributor, which had that master prepared for its release. Second Sight accessed this and further improved on it, but after discussing it with Final Frame, felt that the interpositive footage wouldn't really benefit from an HDR pass. Unlike a camera negative which doesn't contain any grading decisions, the look of a downstream film element such as an interpositive is mostly baked into the film.
