About this deal

My first sample was served to me by a smiling young lady in a beach bar at Jolly Beach on the island of Antigua. Sandra’s beach bar is a fun spot practically on the beach and the drinks are reasonably priced. The nose is light and authentic. I’m getting an admittedly mostly column distilled type of lighter Caribbean rum but I am not nosing anything “suspicious” which might suggest additives of any kind. It’s clean and light with a nice balance of toffee, vanilla and some quite “fresh” smelling oak spices and a touch of nutmeg and ginger. The Dark expression is a blend of Caribbean distillates from Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Barbados aged in American oak casks.

Zombie Punch–is strong and mysterious. If you want the perfect booze by the beach, you better try this one. Shake up any premade mix before pouring, as ingredients may have separated. Then pour the mix into the glass over the rum, all the way to the top of the ice. Instructions: Pour all the ingredients into your large pitcher. Mash the strawberries slightly and stir to mix well. Pour into glasses over ice. Instructions: Combine all the ingredients in your blender with ice except the orange slices. Blend until smooth and pour into glasses. Garnish with orange slices and serve.

Directions:

Since then, the Painkiller drink has become a permanent part of my life. This is what we drink on perfect summer days by the pool, on the coldest winter days when we want to feel tropical, and of course, whenever we return to St. John for vacations. Actually, we drink Painkillers on every vacation, especially in the rare instance that we see one on a menu, like recently in Savannah. Tropical Bay Breeze is so easy to make; it’s also very refreshing and tastes like the tropics—a perfect drink on the hot beach. From Tortola you will need to get to the West End Tortola ferry terminal where you'll take either the ferry or a chartered boat to Jost Van Dyke. To ensure catching the last ferry to Jost Van Dyke (6pm) you should arrive at Beef Island not later than 4pm. Instructions: Combine all the ingredients in a tall glass. Garnish it with pineapple and maraschino Cherries, if desired.

The in the main drink recipe is the same, but I believe they increased the amount of coconut cream and it harmonized with my taste buds! How to Make a Painkiller Drink Here is the original Painkiller recipe. If you can’t be in the islands, the next best thing is to make it at home! Instructions: Mix all the ingredients in your blender and blend. Pour into your glasses and garnish with fresh strawberries. Whilst this rum is a bit rough and ready it is saved by its general “lightness”– it tempts at being quite aggressive on the initial sip but it’s very much like a yappy dog in that it’s bark is far worse than it’s bite. It just sniffs at your trouser leg and can barely make a mark in your jeans. Strawberry Rum Punch features a combination of sparkling wine [ 1], white rum, ginger beer, and strawberries–a great drink for any occasion, anytime, and anywhere.

Soggy Dollar Painkiller Drink History

To drink these at the beach, the simplest drinking vessel is the tried and true red Solo cup. However, we’ve found that these cups with lids help keep our drinks cooler and prevent sand from blowing into them.

Soggy Dollar Old Dark (750 ML) - Handcrafted, aged and triple distilled with natural cane sugar molasses, vanilla and caramel aged in oak casks for a smooth rich flavour and deep golden colour. Whether in a Painkiller or simply drink and savour over ice you will be transported to this Virgin Islands paradise. Finish off by grating fresh nutmeg on top. You can also use pre-grated nutmeg, although fresh will be more fragrant. Cream of coconut — This one is definitely a must. It’s not a surprise that the original Soggy Dollar painkiller recipe uses cream of coconut since it provides a creamy and smooth texture to your drink. Still, you would also be fine with coconut milk, although the texture of your drink would be considerably different. Coconut water and regular dairy milk are other alternatives, but keep in mind that coconut milk would probably be better than these two.

Best Painkiller Drink Recipe:

PG-13 painkiller — Well, this one’s a non-alcoholic drink, but that doesn’t mean it’s only for kids alone. You could replace the alcohol with any light liquor, especially if you don’t prefer a strong drink. If you’re looking for something lighter, this one's for you. Straight from the Soggy Dollar bar. Though we should warn you, it could get quite addictive. Jump to: Perhaps one of the most famous things from the British Virgin Islands, this Soggy Dollar painkiller recipe has been a popular drink for a long time. Originally made with Pusser’s rum, there are also hints of coconut taste. Honestly, how tropical could this one get? Outside of the Caribbean, the Painkiller is not a very common drink to find in bars. Most people haven’t heard of it unless they’ve been to the Virgin Islands. In fact, whenever I tell people about the Painkillers we love so much, I often find myself clarifying that it is the Painkiller drink, so they don’t awkwardly assume I’m talking about pills.
