If your home is mainly hard floors, then you won’t be able to make full use of one of the key V11 upgrades when using this tool. Neither the Dyson V11 Torque Drive or the Animal model include this soft roller head. To be completely honest, I am both surprised and disappointed that it wasn’t included. The Dyson V11 Torque Drive model comes with an LCD screen that displays performance in a run time countdown in real time. Dyson V10 Animal Extra– The same as the Animal, but with the addition of specialist tools such as the up-top adaptor. Aside from not being as powerful as the High Torque head, the direct-drive tool also doesn’t include Dyson’s Dynamic Load Sensor. This means the automatic suction mode is replaced with a “Medium” mode, so you’re missing out on a core new feature of the V11.

Finally, the V11 Torque Drive provides a middle ground. It does include the High Torque floorhead, meaning it can access the full range of the V11’s technologies. In fact, the only difference between the Absolute and Torque Drive is that the cheaper option doesn’t include the Soft Roller floorhead. Excellent filtration. If you suffer from allergies, then the Dyson V11 is one of the best cordless vacuums for retaining allergens. It’s designed with Dyson’s whole-machine filtration system, along with a HEPA filter for removing more small allergens. This doesn’t mean they provide identical performance though, as the floorhead is a crucial component of any vacuum cleaner. The High Torque cleaner head is also necessary for some of the V11’s advanced features (more on that in the next section,) but it isn’t included with all models. With that said, the V10’s floorhead is still one of the best of any cordless vacuum. While the V11 provides an improvement in brush bar power, the V10 is still an excellent performer on all surfaces. All three come with the Torque Drive cleaner head and LED display screen, differing only in the number of included cleaning accessories. While the initial cost of the Dyson V11 vacuum is steep, the low maintenance costs do help to offset it.Considering the V11 is more expensive, however, you would expect there to be a performance difference – and there’s no doubt that the V11 is the superior vacuum cleaner. We don’t think the V11 Animal is quite as good as these other two models. While most features are the same, it only has a direct-drive floorhead, rather than the new “High Torque” floorhead. A downside is that Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners can sometimes feel top-heavy – and this is slightly worse for the V11 due to the heavier design.
