The top-left app on the home screen is Netflix, and it’s rather odd that it’s the only app whose position you can’t change. The classic British comedy Hot Fuzz looked sharp and detailed – with none of those grainy filters you often get with sub-standard upscaling – while also showing off the U7QF’s exceptional brightness control. The grapes might come from the same fields, the fermentation process may be identical and the barrels alike, but the taste and quality still vary from season to season. Black bars did light up more when bright objects were close to them in a scene, but in normal lighting, it wasn’t too distracting, and as a movie watcher I was probably more drawn to issues than your regular viewer. Your use of this device is subject to the End User License Agreement, and lack of your acceptance of the End User License Agreement will turn off all smart features of this device.
The idea is that every TV should have at least one picture preset which can display TV and film content as it was mastered and intended to be seen.

It is possible to mitigate against some of these issues and making sure your viewing environment is suitable for this type of TV display will help. There’s no support for the HDR10+ system, but getting support for even one active HDR system (Dolby Vision) on such an affordable TV is good news. The Hisense U7QF is a 55-inch LED LCD TV which uses a Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) backlight with 72 separate zones. On paper, these other panel variants are identical apart from the 43in version having a lower-powered, twin 7W speaker system and the top-end size benefiting from a two 10W speaker set-up.

There’s also a moment when Gamora’s green face is a little too lurid, but there are relatively few of these mishaps. You can start a free Spotify account and start listening to the latest music immediately with occasional 30-second advert breaks, or you can sign up for Spotify Premium to have uninterrupted streaming. Hisense has opted to prize the midrange and upper-mid sounds, which is good for voices but means that there’s not a huge amount of impact to gunshots and explosions. Experience shows that while IPS screens can provide wider effective viewing angles, they tend to struggle to deliver good black levels and contrast.
